NGPC Master List - Writers Needed

Post by Ack »

Hello folks, this is the first attempt at a Master List article. We have selected a handheld with a relatively small game library for a test case. What we want to do is cover every game for it, to provide a valuable resource for collectors so they are armed with the knowledge of what every game is. We will be starting only with the NTSC-U titles to make things more manageable.

This is the format:

Title
Developer/Producter, Release Year
Genre, ESRB rating(if applicable)
A paragraph covering important aspects of the game, such as control, plot, camera-angle, genre specifics, key gameplay elements, etc.

This is what an example looks like:

Dark Arms
Noise Factory/SNK, 1999
Action RPG, Rated E
Dark Arms, or Dark Arms: Beast Busters, is the sequel to the 1989 arcade rail shooter Beast Busters. Despite this connection, Dark Arms is an action RPG involving gunplay against hordes of monsters. Players take the role of Ziad, a monster hunter who uses the Contract of Darkness to enter the netherworld so he can create a firearm capable of annihilating even the most powerful forces of darkness while also completing tasks for a reaper-esque figure. To complete this mission, Ziad uses a device called the Catcher to capture the souls of monsters, which are then fed to the firearms to evolve them in various ways. Weapons also gain experience and level up from use. Ziad can also forge new weapons by finding and combining seeds with oum hidden throughout the game.

Note: these are not reviews! The purpose of this is not to judge the quality of the game, merely to inform about the contents of the game and whatever its purpose is. What do you do in it, how is it similar or different from others, what makes it unique? You may include reference to what reviewers have said about it but only in reference to that information coming from reviewers. You're talking about the games to inform, not to criticize. Remove yourself from the write up as much as possible.

If you want to choose a game to write about, you must volunteer in this thread and name the specific game you intend to describe! Do not worry about providing images, we'll handle getting those. We'll also be looking over submissions for editing purposes.

Thanks, folks. We greatly appreciate the help.

I will take the Card Fighters games. (I have been meaning to play those any way.)

Can the write-up mention the games' historical significance, accolades, etc.?

Please also let me know if you need help with copy editing.

Both SNK and Capcom versions?

Yes, you can include information on historical significance, but try to keep it limited. We want the focus to be on the content of the games themselves.

They are basically the same game (like Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red).

I'll put my name in the hat here and give an attempt at one. I'll take Fatal Fury: First Contact
