How do you actually flash the firmware?

Like said before, burn the disc, do disc swap ONCE, flash it via Atlas, then enjoy playing backups. Almost every burnt game I have tried works, so for now it is good for just that. Later on, yes we will have codes and saves working. All carts should work. Even ones with no port on top. They can all have the firmware updated.

This is great for us disc swapers. I RARELY played mine this way, as I HATE hurting the disc drive. Now, its fine. I just put my backup in and hit A button then it plays. For that, it's worth tons to me sentimentally.

Does this work with an official memory cart?

I do not recall if that has actual on board flash memory or not. Only things which have flash memory like the 3rd party carts can do this.

The official memory card has flash memory, that's what it stores the saves on. It's just not set up to store/boot any kind of firmware, it's only meant to read/write game saves.

Good point. I think I only have one valid modchip left.

This is very interesting in that it bypasses the bootloader of the system and simply boots from the cart. Very elegant. The only thing stopping the ARs from working with cheats and saves is memory. It simply depends on just how big that bootloader is.
