I haven't bothered with it, but the latest work I think is with "pseudosaturn kai", which I found on isozone.
It has a "lite" version, which is compatible with AR, but the save features in "full version" are only compatible with a "Gamers Cart", which I know little to nothing about. It has some useful applications though (even for a Rhea owner), like the floppy disk saves for games that use them and possibly Dezaemon 2 saves in the future.

But isozone is the best place I see for the files at present (there are a few versions on there, so you'll have to read up on it).

Excellent!

Okay, so there's something I've never been clear about:
Did PAL gamers play a lot of games slower? I followed a link from your link and it appears that a lot of pal games will play on a NA/NTSC system (after defeating/patching region protection), but faster than in pal? I get the 50/60hrtz difference, but how was it actually coded to play.

Case in point, I'd like to try the Pal version of Parodius. I have the Jpn version, and the pal version appears compatible if loaded on a NA system. Will it play the same speed as the Jpn version?
If so, does that mean the Pal gamers played it slower?

50/60hrtz is set by the console. How a game reacts depends on how it was coded. (a few games are buggy forced into the wrong speed)
I think most pal games play slower. But I've never owned a pal system

With Action Replay you can play the legit pal Parodius disc on a NA system. No further region patching needed.

My understanding was the opposite... because their sets run a 50Hz, some games are coded to run ~20% faster on PAL games/machines. This way, once it slowed down, it then runs at normal speed compared to the NTSC counterpart. I remember reading Nintendo did this on several SNES games.

The alternative for them was no edits made and games THEN ran slower for them... those same games would run at normal speeds for us.

Outside of speeds, you can get weird resolution issues. I've even seen some show as black & white.

Add:
Just found this below (referring to a pure NTSC game on their sets/machines) so I assume that opposite (faster) would be true as well for a PAL optimized game on a NTSC console.

For a quick explanation if you don’t want to watch the start of the video 60hz NTSC games not optimised for 50hz PAL. Will run 17.5% slower on the whole during gameplay and will suffer from large black borders at the top and bottom of the screen, making the picture appear squashed.

Wow, nice list! I think that clears up a bit for me.

So yeah, it appears that there are a TON of unoptimised games. It would suck to be a PAL Saturn gamer (among other retro systems), half the games play too slow!

In addition to Parodius, I totally need to check out Keio Flying Squadron 2 sometime, for an English port.

Oh, and my Rhea Saturn allows region patching upon loading, so I just have to worry about game speed and screen format, I think? There is instruction to allow the 50hz for PAL games (requires soldering), but apparently I don't even want that for the games I'm looking at.

...time will tell, I won't get to experiment much til after the Holidays.

Man... this is unfortunate. We'll never get this one in full English.

Deep Fear - Part PAL optimised
Improved, game runs correctly at 60hz game is bordered at 50hz, however at 60hz a strange green lines appear at the very top of the screen. Some users have confirmed that the game has a crash towards the end at 60hz.

Maybe some day there will be a patch for it in emulation.

This is awesome. Nice alternative to PSIO but leaves you burning disc still which I'm not a fan of in 2018.

Now finding a PS1 that will read disc well will be a challenge in years to follow.
