My YouTube Channel & Kickstarter: Forgotten Games

by AnCapGamer Mon Jun 01, 2015 1:11 pm

Hey guys, I'm starting a YouTube channel called Forgotten Games that's going to be dedicated to raising awareness about many of the lesser-known but interesting games that lie buried in the corners of gaming history, as well as covering some of the impressive and interesting fan projects that I've seen emerge and come to completion in the last few years. If you're interested, I'd love for you to check it out:

I'm also doing a kickstarter for the show, for anyone that's interested in it - if I can meet my funding goal for it, it'd let me quit my current job and do the show full-time, which would increase my ability to make episodes considerably.

Not to be negative, but I doubt you'll make your goal as no one knows who you are/if you're committed/etc., and this type of show is out there in spades already on Youtube.

No, you're right - I set too ambitious of a goal for what I was trying to accomplish and the means that I was using to achieve it.

I've closed the old one, and re-launched with a much more reasonable set of goals. Check it now.

"Pay my editors".

Read some online tutorials on video editing with free software. The editing needed for a standard review show is minimal, mostly cut and paste style skills. If you don't know how to do video editing or don't have a passion for it enough to learn, why are wanting to make a video show?

If you go on Youtube you can find heaps of great reviewers and video game related content producers, almost all of them started with a budget of $0 and with work and family taking up their time, they let passion drive them.

To me this is the equivalent of someone starting a kickstarter for a game and stating they don't know how to program or create graphics, but if you pay them, they will hire a programmer and a graphical artist, etc.
