CRT, I highly recommend the Nyko Perfect Shot as a shell for you Wiimote.
Personally, I own two of them and love them for the light gun games. I found the official Nintendo shell to be very awkward to use.

I'll suggest this as well, I like it a lot.

I also think the Resident Evil Zapper is cool, even if only as a collection piece.

Lemme check real quick-like.

edit:
Sorry; only wiimote+nunchuck or analog sticks.

The DS version can use the d-pad and face buttons though. And you can connect your DS to your Wii and download the demo from the Geometry Wars Galaxies menu.
Thanks! Oh Crap, that kills using the digital only Blaze Twin Shock. I modded this controller for Twin Stick games, would have been the perfect controller to try on Geometry Wars.

Does the DS download demo use the Game Pad and Face Buttons on the classic?

Thanks for the Replies on the Gun Housings. I just ordered House of the Dead 2 and 3 thru Walmart's web site. I might pick up the housing later for a more authentic "Gun" feel. Maybe the Nunchuck might be slightly more responsive without the outer plastic trigger of external gun housings?

I did see a Nyco Gold Classic Controller and Gun Housing combo pack, very tempting at twenty five bucks! The man with the Golden Gun. 8)

The Wii is the only current-gen console I own, and like noiseredux I use it mostly for Netflix, Gamecube games, and light-gun games.

The light-gun games I own and love are HotD 2+3 (personal favorite), HotD Overkill and the SEGA Gunblade NY/LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack. They're great. I haven't had any problems with tracking whatsoever. I own 2 first party Wii Zappers and they work wonders when my gf and I wanna play head-to-head.

Of the non-light gun games I own I'd have to say that Sin & Punishment 2, No More Heroes and Super Mario Galaxy are the best of the bunch. They're all definite must-haves for the console. Monster Hunter Tri is extremely fun and online play is wonderful, but it's insanely in-depth and will suck up a lot of your time if you want to play it properly.

DKC: Returns is decent enough, but they changed too many simple gameplay elements around, and it pales so strongly to the original trilogy that I can't recommend it whatsoever.

I remember some months back when Sin & Punishment was on clearance. Was it Target? Now that I have a Wii, regret not picking it up back then. Eventually when it comes back down in price, I'll snag it. I have the N64 version to hold me over. Next item to pick up will either be the May Flash PS2 adaptor or a Classic Controller. Biting my fingernails waiting for House of the Dead 2 & 3 to arrive by mail. Soon I'll be chewing the toe nails.

Reminds me of my favorite sit down Motion Arcade, Space Harrier.

Edit

Sin & Punishment Star Successor- $19.99 New / $17.99 Used

This game was clearanced at one time, now going for $49.99 at most stores. However Gamestop still has it for $19.99 new. I had to get this game, bought a new sealed copy. Only two bucks more for the new sealed pristine copy. Comes with all the flyers and untouched Nintendo points registration code. The game is inside an Ecco case with holes, at least it is white so the cover insert camouflages the openings. I think the original Wii release had a solid case, maybe this is a rerelease with some improvements in the game?

The Original
The game expands on the original N64 import only game. First a short description of the N64 version, how the game is controlled.

Image

The game is a Rail Shooter that uses the Analog stick to aim the gun site. Either the Direction Pad or the Yellow C buttons for side to side movement. The shoulder buttons are for jumping and the Z button is for shooting. A lot of buttons, great in a game such as a Defender Arcade Control Panel, somewhat painful in a tight game controller.

Its all in the Control
Okay moving over to the Wii with motion controls. So much easier to point the gunsight with the Remote for an INSTANT target. The B trigger is held for rapid fire, the A button adds a charge up weapon that reminds me of Gradius. The advantage here is the weapon charge is separate, so regular gunfire still can be used at the same time. In addition a sword can be used by tapping the B Trigger for close combat melee attacks. :D

Image

The Nunchuk controls movement and now one can float around like Space Harrier. Jumping and the new sideways evade are controlled with the Nunchuk triggers. A definite improvement compared to the N64 jump only feature. With the Remote and Nunchuk, my big paws can now be spread out.

N64 bosses only had one target. Now there are individual tentacles to shoot at, all easily and quickly targeted with the "Lightgun" control of the Wii Remote. The game also supports the Classic and Gamecube controllers. However here is where Motion Control instant gunsight movement is essential and satisfying.

Pretty Graphics
Naturally the pic is going to be so much better, all in 480p with a component cable. When flying over city scapes, a real sense of height. It is great floating above while raining destruction down on the targets below.

Image

My one minor disappointment is the screen "blur" effect to give a sense of movement. I prefer sharp imagery but at times the blur does work. The water level with the giant moray eels come to mind. They motion blur when lashing out, with a giant detailed head filling the screen with snapping jaws. Picture the Hydra in God of War with a 3D effect slamming in your face.

Image

Verdict
I really like the N64 version and the Wii version is even better! I don't get the silly outfit the male character wears, oh well Space Harrier had a weird outfit too. A beautiful current gen upgrade that retains the heart in game play of the original and expands on it. Not only in the pretty graphics, but the added CONTROL with a motion control and retaining mechanical control of the character with a stick. :D

A treasure of a game made by Treasure!

I really dug Star Successor. I made it into the top 100 in the World Rankings on Stage 1 Normal...need to go back and try to break top 50. Super addicting game that includes stages you don't mind playing over and over again.

The DS download demo is the demo for Geometry Wars Galaxies DS. It uses either the D-pad+ABXY Buttons OR the D-pad+Touch Screen.

You play it on your DS. Not with the Classic Controller.

Yeah, the demo is downloaded to the DS. Again, I prefer the D-Pad + stylus combo to the face buttons.

Lot of replay value, I love this game! I wish more Arcade style games had endless continues.

Oh crap. I was hoping the Gamecube Controllers or pads on the Remote would work. This would have allowed a wide range of PS1 Arcade sticks to work with a Gamecube or Mayflash adaptor. Ah well I may still get the Mayflash and use the Analog sticks of the PS2 controller.
