What is the best Tetris?

Post by J T »

Do you like a traditional Gameboy Tetris? Tengen's early release? Do you prefer the added element of helping the professor in Tetris Plus? Maybe you prefer the third dimension of Tetrisphere? What do you think is the best Tetris?

I love Nintendo Tetris on the NES, however I think the best is a toss up between Grandmaster 2 and 3.

I think the original Tetris for Gameboy is perfection. All attempts to "improve" the game have only made it worse. Don't even get me started on brick spin and locking.

Technically, the original Tetris was designed for the Electronica 60. It would then go from PC, to NES, to Gameboy.

Tetris The Grandmaster 2 or 3, depending on whether one likes being able to hold a piece or not.

OK, I admit it's a misnomer to call the gameboy version the "original" tetris. I mean to say the first on gameboy as opposed to Tetris DX. By the way, the NES version of Tetris is fine too. I have no problem with that whatsoever.

Also, holding a piece is simply cheating to me. Does anyone else think it's odd that the "Grandmaster" versions of Tetris are easier?

I'm interested in the best multiplayer Tetris game. I remember playing one back in - geez 1997? - on PC .

Was disappointed to see poor reviews for the new Tetris Ultimate for PS4/Xbone - although maybe framerate issues have been patched?

I absolutely love Tetris DS, so many different modes. Plus it is portable, Tetris just has to be portable.
