There are several variations of Microsoft Golf. Not sure if they are completely different games, or if they were just slightly modified with each iteration.

Mine was released in 1996, Win 95 compatible, K-A ESRB rating. Got it at Goodwill for 99 cents.

As a kid I remember being disappointed that the Windows pack-in "Golf" game was actually a card game.

Hey now, Golf Solitaire is all right, as a card game.

Fighting Golf is serviceable, but I always had trouble with the swing meter on that one. The different characters with various attributes are nice.

I'll check my Microsoft Golf CD to see if it's the later version.

I've always been a fan of NES Open. It's a great golf game, though maybe a bit dated now.

I always had a sweet spot for True Golf Classics: Waialae Country Club on the SNES. I remember I used to think the graphics were sooo cool! I used to think the same of the Links series of games on PC.

Nowadays I'm happy to just play Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on the Gamecube.

NES Open holds up pretty well. It's tough to do well at!

Old golf games that don't hold your hand were how a lot of us cut our teeth and learned the sport. Dave and I talked about it on the Racketboy pod when we waxed about Leaderboard Golf. The other day I fired up plain old "Golf" for the Game Boy - something about not being given a recommended club and figuring out the best shot on your own is pretty refreshing (albeit challenging - that game is punishing).

Nearly all the NES golf games are like that. NES Open does suggest a club for you (not the original NES golf!)
