I wasn't really keeping up with it, but yeah the reviews it's getting all of a sudden are great... and honestly I did enjoy Far Cry 2 for the most part, so I'm pretty stoked for this one. Open world FPS's are hit or miss for me, but I think this one is going to be great. The whole hunting aspect to upgrade your gear and whatnot sounds awesome, fast travel will be nice, and it sounds like they have changed things up from Far Cry 2 that I wasn't big on... should be epic.

It is maddeningly difficult. It's still one of the better examples of an FPS game with wide open spaces though.

I'll agree with this. The environments, the weapons, and the overall feel made for a unique FPS experience.

It's later ruined by lame monsters though, just like Crysis (both) and the aliens. lol

Games like Far Cry 3 are testament to the cleverness of console engineers to have included specialised hardware to last all those years, especially the eDRAM in the 360. I'm still getting the Windows version, but console owners aren't really left behind!

I think it really adds a lot more *environment* to an FPS. No dank dark buildings, no narrow city streets, not your typical setting for this sort of game. The weapons were also surprisingly more modern and realistic for the time. Even the enemies had AI that was unheard of in 2004 and didn't just blindly walk into your shots. But then you meet up with the Trigens. THAT'S when you want to go back to your other FPSes

Hopefully the 3rd one will be better than 2.

Have you played 2? I figured it was too recent for you...

I actually quite liked 2 when it came out.
I'm still not sure whether I'm a kid or a squid now.

Haven't because I heard some mixed reviews and also some crazy system requirements, that CryEngine is pretty resource-intensive. The first one I barely got running at a decent speed.

Finished it yesterday... Damn it I was dismayed when

Sam got stabbed in the neck, as I liked him

I didn't care for the Alice quotes, but the game was a unique experience even if little is original. I'll take on Uncharted soon..

I enjoyed the main campaign, however i felt the co-op was rather tacked on. I also like how they got rid of that dumb weapon decay mechanic from 2
