I'm just curious as I was just playing the original NES port of the game and I was wondering if any of you think it would have been possible to play such a game on the Atari 2600 or anything earlier than the original Nintendo?
Edit addon: I don't mean everything in its entirety I mean if they could scale back on the graphics though there isn't much and audio as well for good gameplay on it that's passable.

Presumably you're thinking of the NES version put out by Nintendo in 1989. The Tengen NES one came out in 1988 and the DOS version came out in 1987. The Atari arcade version was 1988. Tetris doesn't even need graphics, it would be easy enough to make with text so it would be easy enough to program on a mainframe from the 60s or 70s.
But yes, someone has made a Tetris clone for 2600.

That's a Columns clone, not Tetris.

"Could it play on earlier ports"
don't you mean could it be played on earlier systems? or could it have been ported to earlier systems?
Your title doesn't make much sense lol.
