I was thinking about trying these:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... bile&hl=en

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... arun&hl=en

Just putting that out there for you Rayman apologists. ;p

Legends is better. I didn't cotton much to Origins, either.

Both of those are actually a lot of fun. In-game purchases in a paid app put me off a bit, but I enjoyed my time with them...not as much as I enjoyed doing absolutely everything in Rayman Legends...but still fun...especially for a King's Filed apologist who isn't used to fast-paced, intense 2D platforming.

(Also, if you are planning on getting a Wii U, hold off on Rayman Legends until you have it.)

Electronic Super Joy or GTFO...

(I jest...I'm not sure how good you are at rhythm-and-music games, but to my knowledge, your skills in all genres are quite admirable, Exhuminator.)

.....

On topic, some 32- and 64-bit platformers that, IMO, have aged well are:

Castlevania SOTN
Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot 2
Crash Bandicoot 3
Jumping Flash
Jumping Flash 2
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Mega Man 8
Mega Man X4
Norse by Norsewest: The Return of the Lost Vikings
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
Rayman 2: The Great Escape
Spyro the Dragon
Strider 2
Super Mario 64
Tomba!
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider II

I admittedly suck at rhythm games. I'm trash at them. Watching me play a rhythm based platformer would be a shit show.

I have Rayman but it's like a DOS or Win 95 version....? I suck at it.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is brilliant. One of the best games in the series, as well as one of the best platformers of the era.

I loved Symphony of the Night when I finally played it a few years ago.

Some others on that list look intriguing. Has anyone mentioned Astal yet?

Y'all are forgetting about the most important game of all though.....

As I mentioned, Rayman on DOS is even harder than the console versions. I think everyone sucks at it.

Mega Man X4 is indeed awesome stuff. It and Mega Man X are my favorites of that series. Zero, in particular, is tons of fun to use.
