Disney's forgotten 16-bit platformer...Pinocchio!

by Ack Mon Oct 19, 2015 7:39 pm

No, don't get that excited, it really isn't that great. In fact I'd say it's much more mediocre than the other Disney platformers that came out for SNES and Genesis/Megadrive. I bring it up though because I have a question for anyone else who has played it. Namely, I'm having control frustrations and cannot figure out what to do. I need some help, folks.

I've been messing around with this game for the SNES, but I lack a manual, and I cannot figure out how to do the spin kick as Pinocchio. Originally I had no idea Pinocchio could attack at all. But I ended up getting stuck at a point in the game where I could not figure out what to do, so I eventually looked up a video and discovered I am supposed to be able to do a kick. I went back to the game, swapped out three different controllers, tracked down a manual for the Genesis version that ended up being no help(I can't find the SNES one online), and I even tried emulating both the NTSC-U and the PAL version to see if there was anything different, but no dice.

If you cannot tell, I am a bit frustrated at this point. This game isn't hard enough to be this annoying.

I did. All of them. Then I rapidly pressed them. Then I started doing combinations. Then d-pad rolls. Then charge moves. Mortal Kombat directional moves. Combinations including start and select. Nothing worked.

It's probably something stupid like those stupid Sonic 3 elevators.

The 7th Saga > Pinocchio.

I haven't played this in years, but as far as I can remember, you just had to hit up on the d-pad to do the spin kick.

Odd, up for me actually pans the camera up, just like L and R move it left and right so I can look around.

Is it at that theater part where you have to mimic people or is it later?

No, it's later. At the end of the amusement park, after the roller coaster sequence. Pinocchio has to kick a guy in his behind at the start of the level.

Welp, I have no idea. I found the game playable at this site:

http://www.snesfun.com/play/pinocchio/1593

Up just pans the camera like you said. The menu says the Y button is for attack, but does no such thing.

At first I thought maybe I'm just remembering the genesis version, but there seem to be videos of the SNES version with the spin kick in them.
