Games like Donkey Kong?
I'm looking for a specific type of platformer. Those that play like the classic Donkey Kong games.
To be specific these are games that:
- consist of one-screen platforming stages
- generally have a goal of reaching some area of the screen (like the top) or to collect a set number of items before proceeding
- loop after a certain number of levels
Popeye, Beauty & the Beast, Congo Bongo, and Kangaroo are ones I have played. I suppose BurgerTime and Ice Climber could conceivably count as well. There has to be several more released during the Golden Age of arcades and 2nd gen of consoles. What else ya got?

Re: Games like Donkey Kong?
Joust is more akin to something like Bubble Bobble or Mario Bros. than to Donkey Kong

Yeah I suppose you could say I'm looking for games where you have to avoid or maybe take out some enemies to proceed to the goal (vs. taking out all the enemies which is what the goal of Mario Bros. and Joust is).
Found this on IGN of all places:

Any thoughts about these?

Re: Games like Donkey Kong?
My two random suggestions would be Wrecking Crew and Titanfall.
One might fit.
One might fit.

Re: Games like Donkey Kong?
Well... neither may fit because I just remembered there's not much jumping on Wrecking Crew unless you want to lose.
If you're willing to go jump-less there's kind of a action/puzzler that's similar called Alice in the Secret Castle for free on iOS and Android. The difficulty is steep and timing is crucial with a different action mechanic that makes you try to fall through the floors without getting stuck.

I can't think of anything specific. Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy are kinda like this, but not really.
Those are incredibly popular old games over here in the UK. Have you played them before? I feel if any American on the forum has, it's probably you.
