I just played the first level. It is great. Very tight controls and fun exploration. They get all the other little details right.

Completely agree with this. Bought the 3DS version and this games is great! Music is catchy and I LOVE the shovel puns. I've beaten three levels so far, would've gotten further today if I didn't have to drive alone to work this morning. GRRR.

It only makes sense to have this on Nintendo hardware.

With reduced detail yes. You can wait for the Xbone port, where it will be mandatory to use a brand shovel from one of Microsoft's tool manufacturing partners, to trigger the shovel attacks with kinnect.

Picked it up last night on the 3ds and am loving it so far. Controls are very tight as mentioned, and the flow of the game feels great. The game looks great also, the colors, and the background scrolling really make the game pop on the screen. The difficulty is nice so far, it is pretty challenging (I have died quite a few times) but not unfair.
