A 2 screen thread about single screen platformers!
I going to say snow bros although there are lots of unported ones playable in mame.
check ´m out!
I used to have the sbnow bros pcb, which is fun, very common and sustains an unuasual high price point (bacause it is so common) I also had tumble pop, another great pcb.

Oh wow. With the exception of bubble bobble, which I havent played but which looks interesting, I just realised that I generally dont like this entire genre. I'd never really considered it before.

If I had to choose one, I'd say balloon fight. But then again, Balloon Trip is the best mode, and thats a scrolling game.

Its not a platformer, but my favourite single screen action game might be Clu Clu Land.

What have you played that made you dislike this genre? It wasn't until I really sat down with Lode Runner that I realized how good it was. These games almost have more in common with puzzle games than side scrolling platformers. Since you see everything on the screen, that really cuts down the importance of reflexes and increases the importance of planning. It ends up being good fun.

^agreed.

I recommend Lode Runner and Solomon's Key the most for the single screen puzzle-platformer bit. Of my list, I would put Solomon's Key at the top.

I don't even know if I could consider lode runner a platformer since there's no jumping. If it is than Lode runner: the legend returns is on my list.

And I haven't played Battle Kid yet but it looks good. . . need to get it.
