Re: What platformer are you playing now?
Playing Super Mario Land 2 and finally completing it.
I was going to get it on the Christmas when it was getting released however
I decided to get WWF Wrestlemania 2 instead and man I regretted that Hardcore.
So now many years later I got my hands on a complete copy of Super Mario Land 2 and loving it

cheers mate. that's my favorite Mario game of all time, and one of the most important games of my childhood. Loved that game to death. BTW how much did you pay for the complete copy?

Got it from Ebay for £12.99 I'm in the UK so that's very reasonable for me

The game wouldn't have been so hard if it wasn't for the last boss, unless you play it on Hard Mode. Then it will just take forever to even get that far.

I just hooked Drill Dozer up to my gameboy player. This game is awesome. The graphics are so bright and colorful. It's also refreshing to see the different locales in the game world. I like how you'll go through a locker room, then a bedroom, then a bathroom, all the while destroying everything in your path.

I've been playing VVVVVV lately. When I played the demo I didn't like it much because I didn't like how everyone was saying they were so original for using a flip mechanic, but they stole that idea from Metal Storm, which I think is an underappreciated gem of the 8-bit era. I wasn't going to buy the game, but then it was bundled in a Steam indie pack and I decided I would give it a 2nd chance. I'm glad I did, because they really explore the full usage of the flip mechanic and do more with it than Metal Storm did. The game is also charming, which is what got me to give it another go. It's hard as hell, but after seeing VVVVVV on several racketboy members "Games Beaten in 2010" lists, I decided I should be able to do it as well. I'm making good progress now and really enjoying the game.

Just finished VVVVVV recently - I bought it in the indie pack like the countless other people that likely own it now as well.
It really is quite good, and a great testament to the fact that simple games can still be very entertaining, even among today's games.
I'd like to get all the shiny things at some point, but I don't know if that's going to happen. The Veni Vidi Vici one sticks out in my mind in particular....
But for now, playing Super Meat Boy! I've put way too many hours into it in the last 2 days, but it's so much fun!
