No issues. You can't copyright an idea. A robot running horizontally and shooting is an idea which anyone is free to use. You can copyright artwork, characters, music, algorithms, code, etc., but general ideas are unprotectable.

I'm a third year law student, so I am not a lawyer, but that's my take on the situation.

Copyright protects works, not ideas. Worry about patents.

You know what, I'm immune to Mario, and I think TGGS outstrips it by miles. The DS remake at least does. Plagiarism isn't always bad :lol:
