Yes I was checking out that topic right now and didn't see these posts we have made and I was wondering why a mod would delete them. :P

In general there are quite a few stages in S3&K that I don't like very much. Same goes for Sonic 2.
For me, the original Sonic the Hedgehog is the most consistent in quality and my personal favourite.

Green Hill Zone and Star Light Zone
Chemical Plant Zone and Casino Night Zone
Ice Cap Zone and Lava Reef Zone

Really? Green Hill zone and Star Light Zone are really good but

Marble Ruins Zone and Labyrinth Zone are a pain in the ass.

Personally I like Marble Zone (really like the music) - on the other hand, Marble Garden from Sonic 3 is probably my least favourite level - but I agree Labyrinth can be somewhat of a pain; I so often die at the end of that level when chasing Robotnik.

If we're talking pain in the ass levels in the first game, though, Scrap Brain Zone is the way to go. =-p

Don't get me wrong, though, I like Sonic 3 & Knuckles - it's packed with more awesomeness than the previous games, but personally I'd also say it's more hit or miss than the previous games. I feel half of the game is awesome and half of the game is not so good.

So, to sum up: Sonic 3 & Knuckles is packed with more awesomeness than the previous games, but I feel the first game flows better as a whole.

yeah marble music is the greatest.

god damn nostalgia enducing music.

I consider Sonic 3 and S&K as different games, since that's how I experienced them. First got S&K and maaaaaaany years later I played Sonic 3.

Sonic 3 is the worst sonic game on the Mega Drive imo. It gets some good rep from being considered the first half of S&K, but really I don't think I like even one stage in that game.

Angel Island... meh
The water level. well sonic and water levels = bad experience (with the exception of aquatic ruins zone from sonic 2)

Carnival Night just sucks. Someone said it in the previous stage, WTF is water doing there.

Then of course there's the horrible horrible marble garden which is usually the part where I can't stand it anymore and close the game.

After that Ice cap and Launch base zones are actually pretty good. But by the time you get there.

Sonic and Knuckles's only maybe weak stage is sandapolis imo. The rest are really good. The greatest in my book.

ok all this sonic talking has put me into nostalgia overdrive. People, I will be doing a marathon today and tomorrow of all Sonic Mega Drive games, on the Mega Drive (have then on the PS3 as well but I want the original SD experience)
