I thought it was alright, but it doesn't crack my top 10 this year.

I also don't play a lot of new games in general but even if I did Cuphead was right in my wheelhouse.
There were a lot of solid titles this year though.

It's ironic that I played through a ton of Contra finally this year, all of which I like a lot more haha. But I'm a sucker for those aesthetics.
Not to diminish anything from Cuphead though, especially with all the years it took to make. I think I would have liked a few more run and gun levels, or maybe a more traditional format in some spots... like a level and then a boss, with a bit more balance in some spots.
The junkyard robot was the hardest boss to me. I cheesed the Casino King, I just could not figure out how to get around his marching card line attack move even with the parries, but luckily there was a funny classic trick to getting by him. The final boss was cool and felt fair after some trial and error.
