Essential FMV Games?

by PretentiousHipster Sat Jan 04, 2020 11:05 pm

I have a soft spot for FMV games. It's when CDs were first utilized. Trends weren't set at that point so they had little to no idea what to do with the technology. Some were disastrous but in a very fascinating way like Burn:Cycle. I was wondering if any of you can provide recommendations for FMV games, either good, or at least fascinating to look at in a historical perspective. I've added all the ones I can find on archive.org on my to play list, but am wondering if any of them should be higher priority.

So far the following were at least great:

Harvester
Spycraft: The Great Game
Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh (this would have been a classic so bad it's good film)

Here are the ones I've listed, just not sure at which order to play them:

The Tex Murphy games. I really hated the first one, but it seems very different from the other entries
A Fork in the Tale looks like an amusing disaster
Riana Rouge
Ripper
Psychic Detective
The Daedalus Encounter
Quantum Gate 1 & 2
Gabriel Knight
Realms of the Hautning
The 7th Guest
Bad Mojo
The Dame was Loaded
Obsidian (this looks amazing)
Flash Traffic
The Masked Rider: Kamen Rider Zo
Latex (doesn't seem to be in archive)
Man Enough
Tender Loving Care

We wrote about these a lot a few months ago. Hopefully, this thread will give you some ideas:
