Selling my entire Game Boy collection

by Broodstar Mon Aug 31, 2020 7:01 am

Hey all, I'm selling my entire Game Boy collection.
It has complete series (Castlevania, Donkey Kong, Kirby's Dream Land, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Land, Wario Land, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so on) and it also has rare games like Trip World, Kid Dracula, Castlevania Legends, Avenging Spirit, and so on.

It is an auction on ebay, so you can see it here:

If you need more details about specific games or consoles, please let me know and I will answer.

Well, it didn't sell this week... I got offers in private for parts of the collection, but no biddings for the lot.
Anyway, I have relisted, with a slightly lower price, and more details.

It's an impressive collection. I hope you get what it's worth. I also want bits of it, but understand it's gotta go as a lot.

Thank you.

I know it's harder to sell the entire collection, and many people offered to buy parts of it... But this is tricky, as the value of the collection is given by the rare pieces and the completed series. So... yeah, I'll probably end up selling everything, or keeping it, but no chances to sell bits of it.

Collections are next to impossible to sell, unless you give a fantastic deal.
Most people who are even remotely interested already have most of what is being sold and don't want to put the work in to selling the rest one by one.
You basically have to find someone who wants a collection but isn't into the fun of building it on their own. Kinda rare.
I've been trying to sell a Famicom collection for like 3 years locally, lol. Even if i price it at $4 CAD per game (x the amount of games) i get nothing heh. I don't care if it sells or not though. :)

You are right and you have a good point. Most collectors seek to build their own collection, not to buy one.
And most Game Boy collectors already have some or most of the games that I am selling.
But I can add a couple of more people that could buy a collection:
- A collector that looks to jump into another console.
- A new collector that wants to get a good start instead of slowly building up from scratch.
- A simple gamer that looks to play those games in original instead of emulators (pretty much that was me, I am more of a retro gamer, not a collector)

Is there a minimum on the ebay listing? Because otherwise you have one bid already, so at the very least it's sold.

The starting price is what I have asked, I haven't set another minimum.

Yeah, I saw just now that there's a bid there... :)

You were not totally wrong, I mean... it is harder to sell a collection.

Related to the bid... I don't know, I'm not selling for the money.
It's just that I am a gamer, not a collector... And I just realised I got this clean, curated Game Boy collection that I don't use anymore, because I've played the maximum out of my games.
So as long as the buyer is happy with the purchase, then I'm happy too.
