POST IT NOW

Well hey, if it is a non-game find of the day, it is fair game. If it is posting an existing collection, it might need its own thread. Though I imagine a dedicated thread for makeup or clothing would wither as fast as the bike thread or the one I made about die-cast cars. :P

More cars! The boxed and sealed Ford Model A was apparently in a relative's desk in England when my parents went for a visit a few months ago, so they brought it back for me. It was obviously stuffed in there for a while since there's a mail in offer on the back that expired 11-30-1985. The Breakaway Bucket is a much better than the one I had given to me with a broken windshield as a kid.

I won a huge lot of VW vehicles for cheap. I had a handful of them already, but most of them I did not. The big van and a few of the cars have pullback motors. There were a few non VW things in there as I guess they didn't know, but they are cool too: 3 drag Isettas and a Citroën 2CV (bottom right).

The big surprise from this lot was a Pac Man van! Apparently there were Namco and Nintendo 5 pack Matchbox sets years ago.

This smaller lot was cheap too. I got some duplicates, but it was worth it for the ones I didn't have and one in better shape.

I got a copy of Mississippi Queen the boardgame for $20.

I use to play this with the guy that started the Computer Gaming Club my College. He was a fair bit older, he came back after traveling around the world in his VW Camper Bus to get his Masters, but he was an awesome guy. We played alot of Formula De but Mississippi Queen was the game I liked the most. It is a simple game of riverboat racing, but it is alot of fun with a couple of people and anyone can learn to play it quickly. Well a couple years later Stick was killed by a drunk driver while sitting at a red light on his motorcycle. The driver hit him hard enough that the stop light decapitated him. His wife sold off all of his games and despite trying, I could not get his copy of Mississippi Queen or Formula De - they went to the library at her military base. Well over the years I had forgotten the name of the game but one day at work earlier this year it hit me. So I hopped on BGG and found that (at the time) the game is $50+ pre shipping and that there was an expansion that is stupidly expensive ($70+ preshipping) and far easier to find in Germany. So I kept an eye on it, putting it at the top of my to buy list. When I was visiting my girlfriend a couple weekends ago a copy popped up on ebay buy it now for less than $50 ($20 flat shipped actually), so I bought it. I told the guy the story and he said that he was glad he could help and that he is very glad it is going to someone who will appreciate it and not just flip it back to Ebay. It came in last Wednesday and as of last night it is now ready to hit the table - several pieces broke in transit.

Just taking the pieces in my hands reminded me of the first time we played it at his little house. It was a heavy wave of nostalgia that just proves to me that I should have hunted this down years ago (despite forgetting the name).

So any of yall based in Germany want to hunt down the expansion for me??? Or another copy of the game, I can paint in the expansion parts...
