i just found the PERFECT listing for a psx!

i actually found it a couple days ago but its supposed to arrive today,it was under $50 it came with all the appropriate cables,it came with air combat (the first game in the ace combat series) 6 memory cards AND one controller. i've never owned a retro console before and i'm so excited to finally play some of the classics such as metal gear solid and tomb raider.


edit:it came a few weeks ago and i whent to a retro game store and picked up syphon filter,metal gear solid (sadly longbox) and tomb raider 1

If you haven’t played those classics before you may find them a bit of an adjustment. They are indeed good games, but it may take some time to warm up to them. Glad you’re putting in the effort, though.

For the original Playstation games:

Air Combat is an upgraded arcade port so don't expect a whole lot of meat to that game compared to later games in the Ace Combat series but it's fun for what it is. There really isn't much of a story or anything other than a quick excuse plot as the focus is on pure gameplay.

Ace Combat 2 is where the Ace Combat story really begins.

Ace Combat 3 has a bit of an issue. The western localization was trashed during development due to budget cuts leaving it a shell of a game compared to the Japanese version. It's missing several levels, characters, branching paths and cutscenes. If you're going to play this one getting an emulated version with the translation patch is the way to go.
