I love older games and the nostalgia is awesome. But you have these ahole that collect just because and have no intention of playing and hording all the good titles to sell at top dollar value. Its really frustrating to be a collector and it really takes away alot of the love i personally have for it.

Who says there's no love in collecting? As Dude would say...

If this were the case prices would be going down; not up.

There are more buyers than sellers currently and by a considerable amount.

From my collection I mostly sell some of the more popular games I have sitting around that I've already played through. Stuff like Zelda, Super Mario, Kirby etc.. The more rare games I like to keep because of how unlikely I would find them in the future for a decent price.

I can't say it hasn't been tempting as I've watched prices climb. But my library still brings me joy. If it ever stopped I would get rid of it.

I did get rid of my N64 stuff because I never had much of a personal connection to the console.

Here's a relevant article to the discussion. Something of note is the author is 26.

I think those "wanting in" with expensive games are heavily skewed towards the younger age (<30) and more of those "getting out" of collections, in general, are older (>35). Of course, I have no hard evidence of this, but anecdotally, it's what I've seen.
