My wife is a doctor and is terrible at Trauma Center.
I bring in Super Famicom, Neo Geo, and PC Engine games to the elementary school every year. I photocopy the instruction booklets, pass them around the room, and the students read (well, as much as they can) the instructions in Japanese. Then we play the games! - and the kids decipher the menus to the best of their ability as they play. It's fun and a nice break from the usual worksheets, oral presentations, etc.
And no, I am not a Japanese teacher - these are "guest lectures" the school allows me to give.
How could a game have taught your favorite topic in school?
