I've often see folks watch all the top 100 IMDB movies, and among book readers, a lot of reading all the "classics". Yet I rarely hear about gamers grinding through the critically acclaimed. I do hear a lot about working your way through the backlog, but I imagine that's games one has already purchased. One of my favorite things about this board is the "Game beaten 20XX" threads. Hence, I was wondering what you folks have finished.

Yeah, that's pretty subjective. I have WoW as 'beaten' because I beat all the content of the Vanilla release.
I've gotten to 100m (125m?) on Donkey Kong, ie, beaten all four levels, so for me, that's beaten.
The Sims doesn't have a fail state (I think?) but I've toyed around enough with it for dozens of hours.

I guess if you could beat the first eight levels of Ms. Pac-Man on one quarter, you've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer.
Tetris? Level 9 and 9-5?

Only, like, four people have ever beaten Tetris, and it's all been within the last two months.
I have never kill-screened any game.
I think it's generally agreed that defeating the Ender Dragon is the "beating" Minecraft, but otherwise I am not really open to alternate definitions of "beating" a game if it does not have a clearly defined ending. I never "beat" The Sims or Sim City or Transport Tycoon.
I used a cheat code to beat Doom as a kid and have not revisited it, so I didn't put that on my list.
