I really like the Joy Cons in the grip. The lack of dpad is annoying but few modern controllers have truly great dpads, anyway.

...I thing the XBox One hands down has the best controller this generation. The Switch pro-controller is great too, I'm not a big fan of the Dual Shock b/c of the analog stick placement but it works. Joy-cons in the grip is a good idea in theory but the buttons are too small imo.

I don't even own an XBOX One, and I can easily say it's the best controller I ever owned.
I bought one to use as my main PC controller. Unfortunately, the (now removed from circulation) Windows 7 wireless drivers cause BSOD occasionally.
I'm stuck using Xbox 360 controllers until I finally give up and install Windows 10.

My vote is for the Xbox One S controller. I like just about everything about it. It fits well in my hands, I love the texturing on the sticks and the shape of the triggers is great. But most of all it just feels well built to me. It has a weight and quality feel to it that the DS4 just doesn't have. The DS3&DS4 just felt hollow and cheap to me. Nothing like their predecessors.

Like most of you, I don't like the touchpad on the DS4. It feels gimmicky and I don't feel like i've ever used it for its intended purpose.

The only thing I don't like about it the xbox one controller (and it seems like i'm in the minority here) is the stick placement. I still like using a D-pad for certain games, and the placement just isn't right for that. I have no problem playing shooters and the like with DS4 stick placement, and the D-pad is in the proper place for everything else. But I guess that's what arcade sticks are for. Can I change my answer to the HRAP?

I know exactly what you mean. I don't have a problem with the left stick placement on the Playstation controllers, but I don't like using the D-Pad on the Xbox 360/One or Wii U Pro or Switch Pro controllers.

Haha, i kind of forgot about that one. I got my ps3 secondhand from a local game store and it came with a sixaxis. I remember being upset because of how bad it was, i thought it was third party. I brought it back in a day later and traded it in towards a ds3.

My first PS3 was a 40 GB model that came with the Sixaxis, although the DS3 had just come out so I picked one up along with the console. I always used the DS3, but I would give the Sixaxis to player 2 if there was one.

This just reminded me of how expensive the PS3 was. $500 and $600 at launch with a Sixaxis controller. The first price drop was the 40 GB console with no backwards compatibility for $400 and still with a Sixaxis controller.

I've gotta go with the Xbox on this one. Everything is improved over the 360 controller and, while it doesn't have much give, the d-pad is nice and clicky. I also like that they left the battery panel. I much prefer to use my own double-A rechargeable batteries than rely on an internal battery that is gonna be a pain to replace.

The PS4 controller feels really cheap yet super-ergonomic at the same time. The triggers don't feel right but at least they curve up unlike the PS3. The battery life is horrible which is really strange considering the PS3 seems to last a darn good while between long play sessions. Also, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one missing the Start and Select buttons. Not a fan of the touch pad thing. Why does the controller need to light up, anyway? It's wasting battery life.
Also, the charging port feels like it's gonna break every time I plug up the controller. It feels so delicate. The PS3 charging port felt really solid.

I like the idea of the joycons as you can instantly have some two-player multiplayer on the go. However, it is the cheapest feeling game product I've used as of late. It makes third-party controllers from the 90's seem high-quality. I'm glad I got the Switch with the dock because when (not if) the controllers break I can buy alternatives and not have to mail my whole system back for repairs.

I dont have an opinion other than the joycons are definitely the worst of the bunch, both for the fact that the d-pad is nonexistent and joycon drift is still a thing.

Elite 2. I don't have one but my friend let me borrow his for a week. The customization is awesome along with the build quality.

Out of all those controllers listed though, I still prefer holding the 360 controller. I could play a game for 8 hours and not tire of holding that controller. I can't say that about any of these newer ones.
