Wizardry?? More like Weebzardry, amiritefolks?!

Just installed Wizardry 1 on my PC. Damn it's been a long time since I derped with DOSBox.

I have that one. It looks awesome, but barring a long-term hospital stay, I don’t know when I’ll actually play it. It’s supposed to be awesome, though.

Wizardry 1-3 (Lyllgamyn Saga) and 4-5 (New Age of Lyllgamyn) are available for the PS1 (in English)! Wizardry VI is available for the SFC and Saturn, and Wizardry VII is available for the PS1 and Saturn. All of those releases are only in Japanese, however. (I think). Accordingly, I really need the Wizardry Archives for the more recent, relatively speaking releases.

Wzardry I & II and Wizardry III & IV on PC Engine Super CD both have a good bit of English text in them. Not complete, of course, but a decent bit.

Thanks! I'm a very "visual person" and retro games are cute.

I'm a visual thinker too. Plus, it's interesting to see the actual games that were acquired, and I think the images liven up the thread a bit.

January game pick ups! Pics inspired by Bone.

Image

1. Gunstar Heroes - Played this game for the first time in the late 90's using emulation. I remember getting up to the board game section when I was first checking it out, and the uniqueness of that level always stuck with me. I really dig the art style and varied level design in this one, especially as a fan of run and guns. The couch co-op option is a huge plus too. I finished the game on my Sega Mini in late December, but look forward to playing it on my console and CRT setup.

2. Lightening Force - I missed my opportunity to pick this up at my local game shop in NY years ago and regretted not grabbing it. I really dig the graphics and soundtrack to this game. This year I'd like to work on getting better at shmups and to try to finish a few on the Genesis. Shmups will always remind me of the days my friends and I would hang at Chinatown Fair Arcade, which was filled with pretty much only fighters and shmups.

3. Comix Zone - Another game I originally played in the late 90's using emulation. I really like the approach and idea to this game, the gameplay's mix of beat 'em up and puzzling is a unique experience on the console. The graphics are great for the Genesis, and I really like how the levels are displayed as comic panels. The difficulty is pretty unforgiving though. I just beat the game for the first time a few weeks ago on the Genesis Mini. When I was young, I don't think I ever completed the second episode.

4. The Ninja Warriors - I had never heard of this game back when it came out, but when it was brought to my attention a few years ago, I really wanted to try it. Well, I finally purchased a copy and the game lives up to my expectations. The graphics and soundtrack are both awesome IMO. Also, I like the variety of moves each character has, and the fact that the game is on a single plane is a different touch for the genre. I've already played through it twice, but it will definitely be getting a lot of mileage the next few months, as I attempt to get better at it.

High IQ pick-ups, Note! I don't own any of those myself. The Ninja Warriors is the most intriguing to me, though the price of the SNES cart is rather disagreeable. I'll snag the arcade version on Switch, surely.

I got some games myself today, all imports:

Now, four of those are old-school Japanese adventure games (kinda pro-VNs): Dead Zone, Samurai Sword, High School! Kimengumi, and Hoshi o Sagashite... I believe Samurai Sword is Capcom's only FDS exclusive. I'm kinda obsessed with this genre.

Fire Bam was made by HAL and has some Kirby-ish graphics. It's a non-linear platformer with some funny physics. There's no run button, but you need to build up momentum before jumps. Very mazelike overall and I'll certainly need a walkthrough when I make an earnest attempt.

Thanks, Bone! Yeah, I'm enjoying all of these lately. Lightening Force is kicking my ass though.

Interesting purchases on your end too. I'm not familiar with any of these games, gonna do my homework. Look forward to your pick up posts since they usually consist of unique titles I've never come across.
