April Fool's is a few months away, but sure.

So, let's make this constructive. If someone were not into visual novels, why should they be? And what would be a good gateway into the genre for anyone who might be interested?

The narrative and character development is the big reason to be into VNs. Visual novels are unparalleled for storytelling and world building. As for where to begin, I actually do suggest Muv-Luv. The trilogy gives you a good idea of the two ends of visuals novels - cutesy slice of life pick your best girl and dark prepare to cry angst - with a super likable and unique cast of characters.

Have you read Pride and Prejudice? Even then, I still don't think any video game has come close to the storytelling prowess of a classic novel. Maybe in 50 years it can start to look like mature media, but for now it's all still juvenilia.

Really hard to directly compare a visual novel to a print novel, honestly, as VN text is almost entirely dialogue and internal monologue. The flow is completely different, and then you add the audiovisual elements...
