Mid 90s 3d Fighters

Post by Dikdikvandik »

My new found love of importing the shit out of Japanese retro games is yeilding some interesting results.
I can't find platformers that every soul on You Tube hasn't discussed. But one thing I did find in abundance are 3d Fighters on the Playstation and a handful on the Saturn.

Heaven's gate
Critical Blow
Genei Tougi
The originally named Armed fighter
The rare Fighting eyes
Goiken Muyou and it's sequel
DXhird
Fighters' Impact

Plus the stuff we all know about like Bloody Roar, Tekken, Bushido Blade, Tobal, Ehrgiez (AKA that game wot haz Final Fantasy characters)

The big thing with these...they're all pretty different and most of them have awesome music. Although that's one thing about Fighting games in the 90s, even if they're mediocre they'll always have awesome music.

Shall we discuss?

Street Fighter II is the game that launched a thousand fighters, quite literally, and the mid-90s were bursting at the seams with them. Sega alone probably made more 3D fighters than any other company during that time.

Everyone seemed to have one. There is just something really Cool about these early 3d Fighters. Once you get to PS2 you're pretty much in Modern era save for the $30 Season Pass every 6 months.

Clayfighter needs a comeback. With today's engines...It'd be like a California Raisins commercial come to life.

I was really stoked when I found out Saber Marionette J got a fighting game on PS1 in Japan... Until I played it.
I did enjoy Battle Arena Toshinden.

Toshinden looked a lot better than it played. That game was janky and broken.
