I've long been curious about the Valis games; I got the third on for Mega Drive when I was in Japan last month, but I haven't tried it yet.

(I should PROBABLY post about my game acquisitions at some point but... I'm lazy :P )

Kind of a mediocre series overall, but there are some gems to be found.

Having a cute schoolgirl protagonist is a bit of a saving grace.

Genesis part III is one of the better entries.

I prefer PCE part III to Genesis III, surprising no one. PCE IV and Mugen Senshi are my faves.

Yeah IV on PCE looks so rad, that's the one I'm really eager to try out.

I'm trying to collect the core series. I'm skipping:
- The old computer games (I actually have a Japanese MSX computer, but MSX Valis is extremely pricey)
- The porno games
- That PCE "game" that's literally just the cutscenes compiled (Laser Soft made one of those for Cosmic Fantasy as well)

PCE and Genesis Mugen Senshi Valis are remakes of the first Valis title from JPN PCs. Because those were developed later in the life of the series, they benefit from the more modern play control and are actually quite nice. I would say they are close to PCE VI in quality. Avoid SNES IV, though. It’s kind of a dud.

Will you be playing the SD Syd of Valis? That one looks cool to me.

Yeah.... I've had that one for years now. It's pretty rough. Also, the game title is an absolute abomination of localization.
