So what do we all think of Mega Man 11?

It's been out a Month, I think we've already been able to digest and dig into it.

My thoughts, It's way too short, almost too short to have left an impression on me, it's also pretty easy. The Double Gear system is almost game breaking (in fact post game IT IS gaming breaking) I have no complaints about the Graphics, or Level design or the boss fights, or the music. The Music is like an update of what the 8-bit music would sound like in the next gen.

I'd put Mega Man 11 up there with Mega Man 5, Mega Man 5 had decent challenge but once you learned it it it was a breeze fortress levels included.

The Challenges are ehhhhh, I wish the endless mode which does return from 9 and 10 wasn't just one rooms in t a blocky viod.

My hope is for Mega Man 12 they change things up a bit, there's no reason anymore that we HAVE to have 8 Robot Masters, Up that number to 10-12, Bring back the intro stages that began in X and bled over to 7,8 and err And Bass. I'm also curious about where we are with X and Zero both get mention in Power battles/Fighters we at least know R&D for both is underway. Mega Man 12 really has to change things up. 11 plays it maybe TOO safe.

I don't hate Mega Man 11 but the impression it left on me is more blink of an eye than full on epic return to form for Mega Man.
It is worlds better than Mighty No 9 at least.

Maybe you're a very well practiced and up to date Mega Man player, but for someone who hasn't touched it for years or hasn't played one before it's not an easy game. It's not hard like the old NES games either unless you pop it up to normal or higher, but it's not bad. It's like maybe Mega Man 2 on normal(easy) difficulty tricky if that.

I find the X series outside of X1 and X4 to be infuriating so I'm not a Mega man expert by any means. But I have been playing Mega Man since the late 80s So......

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I wrote a review for mm11 in the games beaten thread but to summarize, my hype was through the roof and it met my expectations. I can't comment on the challenge, I have played SO much mega man this year that there was no way I was going to find this game hard, but the level design and bosses were great, and the weapons are probably the best in the entire series.

The only mm games that comes close to the weapons in this game are mm9 and the fan game mm evolution, but the weapons in 11 were really fun to use and added a lot to the gameplay.

I do agree that the game could have been longer, purists will argue that it is a standard length for a mm game but many older mm games did have levels besides wilys castle and the 8 robot masters. mm3 had the 4 fusion masters before wilys castle, 7/8 had some extra stages, and there were the games that had protomans castle and dr. cossacks castle before wily, though I forget which ones had them since they all kind of blend together for me at this point. I also agree that wilys castle was a bit too short, with only 2 full levels it was over way too quick.

In spite of those minor complaints I loved the game, I only played through it once, but it is definitely a game I will revisit pretty often.

Main complaints:
- Decent music... this is Mega Man, it should be S Rank music.
- Short Wily Stages section.
- Bass and Proto Man are both MIA.

Other than that, I could probably give it a strong 8/10. I'd easily take it over Mega Man 7 and possibly 8. I do think it lacks a little something, but Capcom clearly put some heart into bringing the series back with this and it rocks. The Gear system with more elaborate weapon powers is some awesome experimentation I'd love to see expanded further upon. I hope it does well, I don't think the Japanese sales were too hot but I could see Mega Man being bigger here in the West perhaps. Give us MM12 with these ideas, bring back some classic characters, and up the ante...

I thought the difficulty was rock solid on Normal. I died quite a bit and loved it.

I look forward to replaying it on the higher difficulties and checking out the challenges sometime.

Imagine Bass with the Double Gear System...

He'd be Zero

I think being a practiced Mega Man player made the game harder actually. It didn't become easy until I unlearned how I normally approach a Mega Man game and figured out how to make the most of the double gear system. That said it's plenty challenging and I thought the difficulty was right where it needed to be with lower difficulty settings making things accessible for new players. The challenge mode is also really, really hard but I'm not sure it's particularly fun.

I also covered by thoughts in the Game's Beaten thread. Mega Man 11 is not my favorite of the series but the weapons were great, the Double Gear system was fun, it was aesthetically pleasing and I think it serves as an excellent foundation for future installments. The music was definitely a letdown.

I could see that. I don't remember if I set it on easy or normal however it goes. I had trouble with some of the mid-bosses on the little I've played, and the bosses are decent too, nasty if you have the wrong weapon, and fairly standard MM cake if you do. I only did 2-3 stages of it before I got grossly distracted and I really need to resolve to start playing stuff as a requirement every day or most days a week or I won't touch stuff for a week or more at a time which isn't good.

I know from playing and being supremely out of practice with MM games that it seems more MM2 easy as far as stage approach went for where I was, but somewhat nastier like MM4 like with some of this twitchy balloons in that one stage as that got on my nerves some. It does well help having the nice cash drops to take back to the shop so you can help yourself along more with added E-tanks and other little bits of kept gear too.

If this is the future of MM, I'm good with it, as I didn't get into MM9 much as it felt like it was designed to just be cheap and piss you off with enemy, spike and pit placement just to be that way, which the old games were not about and MM10 wasn't an improvement. I'm glad I decided to give it another chance since they did a fresh take on an old style and it works.

So for everyone who has played Mega Man 11, what price would you say it is worth? For example, initially I thought Shovel Knight was expensive even on sale for $19.99 when I got it. However, after they released all the extra DLC stuff, I thought it was a bargain. I would have gladly paid $15.00 for Hollow Knight, and I'm really happy I only paid $9.99 for it. I just got Bloodstained for $8.00 during the Halloween sale. I would say I'm only okay with that purchase. The game definitely reminds me of Castlevania 3, but doesn't really push the envelope in any way. It's still fun, though. I'm also playing Mega Man unlimited. I would have gladly paid five bucks for it, so it's pretty amazing as a free game.

So what price point do you think Mega Man 11 should be at?

I paid $24 with it on amazon preorder 20% off before those cheapskates killed that deal and I'm good with that. Would I have been happy at $30, probably or maybe, not really sure. It's a good game, but any higher would have been bad for what it is.
