Why is a used Wii u still so expensive?

It’s a long shot but Nintendo’s own North American store sells new Wii U’s with Mario Kart 8 bundled for $299 USD. They used to sell refurbished units for $175 sans any game.

I purchased a new one recently (about two months ago) and posted the link on here. The listing disappearedand, about a month ago, reappeared. Gone shortly after that.
