Yeah, I tried watching the first episode earlier and honestly I got a bit bored.

45 minutes is too long for his style. On the flip side, I originally lost interest years back on his YT channel when he was putting up like daily content. It was WAY too much. I agree the other reviewers he had on didn't help either.

I really liked the variety of games Undertow reviewed (JRPGs yay), but I did not like Undertow's reviewer. Derek's personality and voice made me cringe.

I like Mark alright, he seems to have a good personality, and his voice is great. However I don't want to watch him for 45 minutes straight. I've never seen any online gaming personality I'd want to watch for 45 minutes straight. (Not even Shinya Arino, and nobody's better than Shinya Arino.) Honestly I'm not sure the type of internet environs that CGR came from even exists anymore. Maybe Mark's had his day.

Jagosaurus wrote:He was pretty open about CGR Undertow not paying for itself. He was losing money on it. He also only came back to YT bc Patreon blew up right around the same time. The ad revenue alone wasn't paying his overhead and bills. He was also open about this.

So how does Prime payout? By views or flat rates to some?

Seems YouTube exposure leading to more Patreon supporters and what he gets from YT ad Rev would be the optimal set up.

Prime would have to pay fairly well to make up for less views & exposure overall.

With Mark's witty comments and interesting taste in games, he'd probably get quite a following on Twitch. Although it's not my thing, appears to be more money in that arena now.

Good luck to him. Have one of his reviews in my watch later queue now. Have been watching him as long as I've been on YouTube so 10+ years.

Maybe don't rent a giant warehouse for a Youtube gaming review show where you have way too much extra space. That's what was killing it. Remember when he bought a old car to put in the background? If money is an issue don't film out of Cosco with a collection of vintage cars.

I checked this out today and I've got to agree, the few minute Youtube format worked a lot better for his silly reviews. These longer ones are too much and he just repeats the same tired old jokes and references. I like Mark and his taste in games lines up with mine pretty well but the show just isn't interesting at all. I think he needs to find a new format, maybe get a buddy to talk about games with him like Xeogred recommended. This just isn't working for him.

Always found this channel to have a spammy quantity over quality vibe. Like, these dudes will make three different four-minute reviews for three different ports of BurgerTime. Also, most of the reviews are just a guy talking while showing the first few minutes of a game, rather than making a holistic review with edited portions. Have things gotten any better?
