It’s been so long since I’ve postes anything or been here. I won’t have much to say on this because I failed every thing I wanted to do last year. So here goes.

Do not waste my time everyday with what others say, do or think about me.

Live everyday accomplishing something or learning something each day to make myself a better person while I’m alive to better myself for me and my family.

To pay attention.

As far as gaming goes,
Finish my master system collection. 20 games away for us set

Finish off my nes collection. 5 games left

Finish off Genesis collection. 8 games left.

Do not invest in another system or buy a new system. Right now I have as my game systems are
Nes
Genesis
Wii (done collecting)
Original Xbox (done collecting)
Dreamcast
Master system
That’s all I have and I feel it’s all I ever go back to so I’m happy with what I got

Hmm, I don't think I completed any of my 2017 goals, though I did make a little headway on my goal to beat the few remaining fighting games released on the NTSC-U SNES. With that in mind, I think I will set some shorter goals:

1. Play through Eye of the Beholder III and wrap up the trilogy.
2. Beat a King of the Monsters game on the SNES to further whittle away at the number of fighting games I have left to beat.
3. Knock out more Western RPGs on my computer. Might and Magic VI, Ultima III, Albion, Dragon Wars...these kinds of games. I have played and beaten a few of course, but it's an area that I still feel I have only begun to scratch the surface and want to spend more time with.

I'm going to update my goals monthly from now on, because they're the kind of goals I can make progress on bit by bit:

So, January updates!:

alienjesus wrote:Beating games:

1. Beat every game I recieved as a Christmas or birthday present in 2017.
Currently beaten: 0/13
I am working on two though! I'm 18 hours into Nier Automata and 15 hours into Layton's Mystery Journey!

2. Beat at least 1/3rd of unbeaten games I recieved as Christmas/Birthday presents prior to 2017.
Currently beaten: 1/12
List so far:
1. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
I'm also working on a second - I've recently started up Age of Empires: The Age of Kings on DS, which I recieved as a Secret Santa gift from ZeroAX several years ago.

3. Beat at least 1/3rd of games I've purchased at the London Retro Game Market to date.
Currently beaten: 1/12
List so far:
1. Little Nemo: The Dream Master

4. Beat all the games I was challenged to beat in my 'challenge me' thread.
Currently beaten: 0/12
I am over halfway through Spyro The Dragon though, so that will be next. Portal 2 is one I'm planning on getting to soon as well.

5. Participate in every Together Retro month to some extent.
So far:
January (Licensed Platformers): I beat Little Nemo, Batman and Mickey's Wild Adventure
Next up:
February (Final Fantasy Spin-offs): I'll be tackling Kingdom Hearts

6. Beat one unbeaten game in every series I own at least 2 unbeaten games in.
List to beat + comments:
- Age of Empires - In progress!
- Atelier
- Danganronpa
- Devil May Cry
- Donkey Kong Country
- Dragon Quest
- Earthbound
- Final Fantasy
- Fire Emblem
- Harvest Moon
- Kingdom Hearts -Next month!
- The Legend of Zelda
- Mario & Luigi - Done!
- Mario Golf
- Metal Gear Solid
- Rayman
- Resident Evil
- Shinobi
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Super Mario Bros.
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Wave Race
- Wonder Boy
- Ys
- Zero Escape[/i]

Buying games:
1. Beat 2 games to buy 1 new unbeaten game
Currently managing this, as I've beaten 5 games and ordered only 1, which is exempt from the tally as it fits rule 2 below

2. Acquire 1 physical copy of a game I own on Virtual Console per month. These won't count towards rule 1 unless they're still unbeaten.
Ordered my game for January, which will be Lords of Thunder for PC Engine CD.

3. Finish my collection of Rare titles for N64
No progress on this one, but seeing as I only need 3 games and most of them are cheap and easy to find, there's no rush.

4. Acquire at least 3 more games towards my collection of games by Treasure.
No progress here either, mainly because my Virtual Console game was already kind pricy, so I couldn't afford to drop some cash on Treasure titles this month.

Other:
1. Upgrade at least 1 of my consoles, preferably 2.
No progress here, again because this takes some cash expenditure and I'm still recovering from Christmas

1- complete my n64 cart only NA collection
2- collect all the collectibles toys in Shenmue 2
3- find a good fishing game that is as addictive as the one in Zelda ocarina of time. Seriously...I spent many hours in my youth just fishing in that game.

4- fix the dang warping issue with my Sony crt tv. Only noticeable in 2d side scrolling games. It's a shame the picture is great for all my none HD consoles.
PSN- jacktsang05
WiiU- jacktsang05

Main Goal = Get My Unfinished Count Under 60
NES = Beat Dragon Warrior IV
GEN = Beat Mega Man: The Wily Wars
SNES = Beat Secret of Evermore
N64 = Beat Bomberman Hero
SDC = Beat Grandia II
PS1 = Do a One Sitting Speedrun of Suikoden
PS2 = Beat Test Drive: Eve of Destruction
GCN = Complete Pikmin - Completed On 02-10-18
XBOX = Beat Shattered Union

I took my first step towards completing my 2018 Gaming Goals and Resolutions.

Unfortunately, with my New Year Cookie Marathon, it might be a while before I get back to them. I would love to start working on them around May/June as I would then be working on them for a little over half a year. The only truly daunting one is Dragon Warrior IV.

That and getting under 60 Unfinished games...

Getting under 50 unfinished games...hmmm. I might be at 500 unfinished games right now.

Never too late to set a resolution. I’m going to try to beat more games than I buy this year.

I’m off to a bad start though.

...Yeah, I tried to beat Spyro but it didn't work out. Planning to dedicate April to knocking out a bunch of these!

5. Participate in every Together Retro month to some extent.
So far:
January (Licensed Platformers): I beat Little Nemo, Batman and Mickey's Wild Adventure
February (Final Fantasy Spin-offs): I tried Kingdom Hearts and didn't like it, so I sold all the games in the series I owned.
March (80s Ladies Night): I've already beaten Legacy of the Wizard, and I've made a start of The Legend of Zelda starring Zelda. Planning on tackling Valkyrie No Densetsu, Mother and Wonder Girl: The Dragon's Trap too.

6. Beat one unbeaten game in every series I own at least 2 unbeaten games in.

No progress here either, but I'm planning on getting Gunstar Heroes as my VC physical purchase for March

ElkinFencer10 wrote:Seeing as how I've failed miserably at my goals the past two years, I don't hold a lot of hope for 2018, but I'll try to set some more modest goals this year. I'm going to try to buy house this year, so that's going to affect my gaming funds.

1. Complete my Fire Emblem collection (missing Binding Blade and New Mystery of the Emblem)

2. Complete my North American Wii U set (I'm 10 games away)

3. Beat at least three of the following games
a. Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD)
b. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1)
c. Xuan-Yuan Sword: Gate of Firmament (PS4)
d. Fatal Frame IV (Wii)
e. Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (PC Engine CD)

I'm revising my goals in light of changing financial considerations and a declining mental state.

1. Play all of the Fire Emblem games I own (that leaves Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776)

2. Complete North American Wii U set (I'm 8 away now; this one may get dropped later depending on finances)

3. Beat twice as many games as I acquire

4. 3. Beat at least three of the following games (looking good here)
a. Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD)
b. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1)
c. Xuan-Yuan Sword: Gate of Firmament (PS4)
d. Fatal Frame IV (Wii)
e. Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (PC Engine CD)

5. Beat at least one game for every month's Together Retro

EDIT - added #5 after reading Ex's post since that's a really good one

My original 2018 gaming goal list was a bit much. I've altered it to be more rational:

1. Finish Xenoblade Chronicles.

2. Beat Final Fantasy VIII.

3. Beat Grandia.

4. Beat Dark Souls. (I really, really hope this is easier than Demon's Souls was.)

5. Beat at least 1 Dreamcast game.

6. Beat at least 1 OG Xbox game.

7. Beat at least 1 PS2 game.

8. Beat at least 1 GameCube game.

9. Beat Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories (PS3).

10. Beat at least one retro game for each month's TR in 2018. (I'm on track here at least!)

This list may still prove to be irrational. I'll give it muh best shot. Can't help if real life's a dick though.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

March is basically over, time for a first quarter update!:

alienjesus wrote:Beating games:

1. Beat every game I recieved as a Christmas or birthday present in 2017.
Currently beaten: 3/13
List so far:
1. Nier Automata
2. Layton's Mystery Journey
3. Dynamite Cop

Decent progress, probably Last Guardian next for this list.

2. Beat (or sell on) at least 1/3rd of unbeaten games I recieved as Christmas/Birthday presents prior to 2017.
Current progress: 3/12
List so far:
1. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
2. The Legend of Zelda
3. Age of Empires: The Age of Kings (sold)

Next up on this list - I'm thinking New Super Luigi U. Age of Empires I gave a good go but I really couldn't get into it.

3. Beat at least 1/3rd of games I've purchased at the London Retro Game Market to date.
Currently beaten: 5/12
List so far:
1. Little Nemo: The Dream Master
2. Legacy of the Wizard
3. Rhyme Rider Kerorican
4. Sonic Advance 3
5. Super Adventure Island

Solid progress on this one!

4. Beat all the games I was challenged to beat in my 'challenge me' thread.
Currently beaten: 1/14

1. Dynamite Cop (Ack)

Negative progress here actually, as I beat one game but was challenged to beat 2 more

March (80s Ladies Night): I beat Legacy of the Wizard, The Legend of Zelda and Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. I've also started, but not finished Earthbound Beginnings.

6. Beat one unbeaten game in every series I own at least 2 unbeaten games in.
List to beat + comments:
- Atelier
- Danganronpa
- Devil May Cry
- Donkey Kong Country
- Dragon Quest
- Earthbound - In progress!
- Final Fantasy
- Fire Emblem
- Harvest Moon
- The Legend of Zelda - Done!
- Mario & Luigi - Done!
- Mario Golf
- Metal Gear Solid
- Rayman
- Resident Evil
- Shinobi
- Sonic the Hedgehog - Done!
- Super Mario Bros.
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Wave Race
- Wonder Boy - Done!
- Ys
- Zero Escape[/i]

Buying games:
1. Beat 2 games to buy 1 new unbeaten game
Just about managing this, but cutting it close with Virtual Console purchases. Likely to break this rule next month when the retro game market comes to London.

2. Acquire 1 physical copy of a game I own on Virtual Console per month. These won't count towards rule 1 unless they're still unbeaten.
Jan: Winds of Thunder, Feb: Ufouria: The Saga. March is currently undecided, but I'm thinking either DoReMi Fantasy or Gunstar Heroes

3. Finish my collection of Rare titles for N64
No progress on this one still, but it's easy to do so no rush.

4. Acquire at least 3 more games towards my collection of games by Treasure.
No progress here either.

Other:
1. Upgrade at least 1 of my consoles, preferably 2.
No progress, this will likely be later in the year
