What retro system do you just not understand the appeal of?
Re: What retro system do you just not understand the appeal
The only system I didn't care for much was the 3DO -- I liked it when I first got one about a year after launch, but it stopped reading discs properly only after a few months -- plus the 3 button controller and the daisy link thing was kind of a pain.
By that time, the Playstation was out already and the few games I liked on 3DO were also on the Playstation (Need for Speed, Return Fire, etc.) so I ended up replacing it with a PS1.
I don't get why people would want this thing nowadays but to each his own. Lol.

'cause you can impress folks that you actually own a 3DO. Duh.
(I... do own a 3DO. Just in case anyone missed that.)

Well there's the money shot, that one's very expensive. The problem with 3DO was that ditz Trip Hawkins ran it into the ground with it being grossly overpriced and getting lots of (mind you nice) ports of games you could have had already for a year plus elsewhere for a fraction of the cost. There were perks in some cases like the definitive version of Star Control 2 and the version of Wing Commander on there was crazy too. But when you get into all the other stuff, it didn't have enough to justify a Neo Geo console hardware price and then some (NG was $400, $600 w/a game, 3DO was $700.)
Always wanted to play Star Control 2 on there, but those Ur Quan Masters guys took care of that problem, but Wing Commander is just going to have to be left to lie there. Kind of like my disappointment when I found out Wing Commander 2 for Super Famicom was a finished game that was canned, then PONY went under, and no one ever could turn up a copy of the prototype of it so we're stuck with stories and scans online.

The soundtrack of that game is phenomenally kitschy. Drum machines, MIDI saxophones. Yesssssss. Too bad it's so hard to come by.

Blue text nothing. The important question is who here DOESN'T own a 3DO?
So we can shun them. Shun the nonbeliever!
