I don't know how the gameplay ported over, but the DS version is a huge graphical downgrade:

And I doubt all the CG movies from XS and XS2 made it into XS1&2 DS. I know graphics aren't everything, but graphics were kind of a big deal in XS1-3, especially the CG cutscenes.

Well I bought two more Wii U games:

Nintendo Selects: Super Mario 3D World $19.88 (includes shipping) brand new
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE $29.95 (includes shipping) like new

And that's it. I am done buying video games until next year guys.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

(I didn't find it offensive, mind; I don't expect folks outside of those faiths to really understand some of the core tenets, and I certainly don't expect theological accuracy in a very, very anime video game series.)

I actually tend to like that in games. Coming from a non-religious perspective, I find exploration of Judeo-Christian mythology to be absolutely fascinating even if the theology isn't quite accurate. That's why I absolutely love the Shin Megami Tensei series. I've not play Xenosaga yet, though I plan to play them in the coming months.

SMT bothers me a bit more. There's a very pro-Lucifer/anti-YHWH bent to many of the games, which as you can guess is quite a bit more sacrilegious to a practicing Christian. I still play them, mind, but there's some very questionable theology there. I also know that other religions aren't exactly handled deftly, either.

SMT shouldn't bother anyone religious. It's a fictional game. My mom is a very devout Mormon. Seeing a pentagram as the logo means nothing to her because it's just a game. To her it's just"meh whatever" and she is about as conservative Mormon as they get. I remember seeing someone offended at Bayonetta because of Angels and Demons. If someone is that easily offended at a game..they probably should find another hobby. SMT isn't really preaching anything, it's just set in a world where there is no hope and it sets a slice of life type story in that world. Even if someone is religious, these games take extreme liberties of Angels/Demons gods and such to the point if you ignore the names it's just another enemy in any kind of game. Super Soldier Nazi's/Nazi Robots in Wolf or Demons in Doom are really not any different in fundamentals of purpose. If the player reads a name of the enemy and takes it personally..that's on them.

WTF? No. Since when is being smote by nuclear missiles in a war between Thor and a Pishacha, and being reborn in a post apocalyptic Tokyo to defeat gods and demons a "slice of life type story"? There isn't even a semblance of a slice of life in there.

I can certainly see how the SMT series would be troubling for you, Sarge. I don't know about the newer games, but at least in my experience with the early games in the series, it's less of a pro-Lucifer bent, and more placing Lucifer and YHWH on sort of a similar level of dubiousness. Even that would still be pretty sacrilegious to quite a few people, I can acknowledge that. I always do neutral paths in games that have those sorts of alignments, though.

Tanks. I'm most excited about Grand Master. It's typically pricey - for Famicom standards (usually $35 cart-only) - but the seller was having a sale.

I think I ignored 8-bit JRPGs for far too long in favor of the Super Famicom scene. There are some great hidden gems on the Famicom and accompanying Disk System.

Of course the non-RPGs rule too. My daughter is already obsessed with Antarctic Adventure.
