Contra III is the fourth. Because no video game series can have a coherent numbering system.
So yeah, this is pretty rad. I'm impressed by how similar it looks and feels to the two NES titles. The game is a lot more generous with its power-up guns. The default weapon is a machine gun rather than a pea shooter and there's a new homing weapon that's even better than Spread.
That said, I find this a bit more difficult than its NES predecessors. This is mainly due to the small cramped screen. During certain boss battles there's barely any room to move. And the jumping is a bit trickier; I found myself plummeting down a pitfall on a couple of occasions.
Soundtrack includes some remixed tunes from the earlier games. Noice.

Contra games. I really do need to pick up part "three" on SNES.
