Had a Dead or Alive fest last night...
96. Dead or Alive Ultimate|Xbox|2004|fighting|32m|7/10Dead or Alive Ultimate is a compilation fighting game developed by Team Ninja and released by Tecmo for the Xbox in 2004. It is a collection of the two previous games in the series, 1996's Dead or Alive and 1999's Dead or Alive 2. DOA Ultimate contains a high-resolution edition of the Sega Saturn version of Dead or Alive, and an enhanced remake of DOA2 which utilized the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball graphics engine and offered Dead or Alive 3 game mechanics.
I didn't particular care for the Saturn version of Dead or Alive, I actually prefer the PS1 version. So I finished its arcade mode and moved on. However, Dead or Alive 2's remake is amazingly good. The graphics still look nice to this day, and the controls are ultra responsive. Story mode is plenty of fun and if you choose to beat all character's story mode it'll keep you busy for quite a while. I recommend picking up Ultimate just for Dead or Alive 2's remake, eye candy and punch candy galore.

97. Dead or Alive 3|Xbox|2001|fighting|25m|9/10Dead or Alive 3 is a fantastic 3D fighting game, easily in the top 3 of the sixth generation. It's right up there with Soulcalibur II and SuperSmash Bros. Melee, no joke. The amount of polish, attention to detail, and gameplay options makes Dead or Alive 3 a pure joy to experience. Balancing is spot on, each character feels meaty and worth using. Story mode is a plenty of fun. The OST is marvelous, with sound effects convincing and immersive. Environments are tiered and expand as players knock other players through walls or over ledges. Beyond that of course are the graphics, which still look amazing fifteen years later. With its super fluid frame rate, combined with well animated characters, great lighting, and particle and reflective effects galore... DoA3 is a technical marvel. But it's not all smoke and mirrors, Dead or Alive 3 is a legit masterpiece of its genre. I could go on and on, but all you really need to know is; if you love fighting games you'd better own Dead or Alive 3.
