Another UV run of Doom 2 down and with that, I think I'm officially id'd out haha. Amusing that I got Doom 4 on the PS4 which sparked this PC FPS massacre.
I will still standby with some of my remarks on Doom 2 from the FPS thread in that the difficulty is just hilariously weird. The second half is by far just way easier than the first, especially compared to the levels a third into the game. I have no idea what happened or if they somehow messed up the level placement or should have done the "episodes" a bit differently, but yeah. And it's not because you might be more stacked on weapons/items, because the later levels just straight up feel safer and more forgiving. Thankfully I knocked out Icon of Sin pretty easily this time around too, which usually bugs me.
There's still No Rest For the Living that's included with the BFG Edition, but I think I'm officially ready for a break and will get back to that again some other time, I've beaten it twice as well anyways.
The verdict is that I love all the Doom's and am happy to be a Quake 1 fan, along with regenerating my love for 2. At the very least I'd say check out Quake 1 after Doom 4, it's really cool to see how similar they really are.
