They're all just ripoffs of Time Crisis.

Re: Games Beaten 2016
To recall as far back as I can remember, the first third person shooter I ever saw with dedicated cover gameplay, was Konami's 1988 Devastators arcade game.

Gears of War 2 and 3 are fantastic games that are both leaps and bounds more interesting and refined than the first GoW. Even Gow Judgement is a decent romp that I preferred to the first Gears game. If any of you were disappointed by the first Gears of War, you really really should try at leat the next game in the series before dismissing the franchise.

Magrunner: Dark Pulse (Xbox 360), a first-person puzzle game in the tradition of Portal where the name of the game is magnetic fields, or more specifically how they affect various in-game items.

1. Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (GCN)
2. Max Payne (XBOX)
3. Eternal Poison (PS2)
4. Dragon Warrior III (NES)
5. Arkanoid: Doh It Again(SNES)
6. Super Mario Brothers 2 (NES)
7. Phantasy Star Online (DC)
8. Power Stone (DC)
9. Bare Knuckle 3 (GEN)
10. Thousand Arms (PS1)
11. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GCN)
12. Mega Man 5 (NES)
13. Ninja Gaiden (NES)
14. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic (XBOX)
I beat Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic on the XBOX this afternoon!
I had never played a Bioware game before this one, so this was a completely new experience for me. I really liked the character customization, the overall feeling of the world, the dialogue choices and the leveling system in the game.
However, the final dungeon is really dumb and the battles are either stupid simple or annoyingly hard. Also, the level cap is just bothersome as well.
Overall, this was a very fun game that was addicting and just a blast to play. Their were some design flaws, but it doesn't take away from a great experience. I'm looking forward to trying other Bioware games.

So recommended then??? It certainly sounds interesting enough on the plot part X3

41. Sonic 2 - Genesis
The very first Sonic game I ever played was Sonic 2 at an in-store demo kiosk. I played it many times in that store and always died in Chemical Plant Zone Act 2; that part where you fall into the water and have to jump up using the assistance of the slowly moving blocks. At the time I couldn't get the hang of the physics and would fall down and die from hypoxia. Once or twice I actually managed to get to the boss, only to die because I messed up a jump and fell into the pits on the side. Then I got a Genesis with Sonic 2 as the pack in game and I slowly figured out the physics. The furthest I ever legitimately got was Casino Night before I died to the boss.
I've since gone and beaten the rest of the Genesis Sonic games (S&K solo a long time ago, as it's the easiest of the games, then S3&K and last year S1). But Sonic 2 was still that unattainable goal. It came up on the fortune cookie roulette and I decided to give it a go. A day afterwards my component cables from HD Retrovision arrived, so it was like a portent that this game was designed to go down.
I quickly found that I was easily able to get to Metropolis Zone before I needed to use my first continue. My many years of gaming and further experience with the Sonic series had really helped things. Metropolis Zone was good at leeching lives in the next few playthroughs; lots of evil enemy placement where if you don't blind faith jump in just the right way you were going to take a hit and probably fall off a ledge, preventing ring recovery. I'm not sure if there's a way to beat the boss without taking a hit either, but at least you can usually recover rings each time. Air Fortress took me a couple of tries to finally beat the boss; I finally slowed down and took it one hit at a time while focusing on not taking hits from the platforms. Which left Death Egg Zone. Silver Sonic was easy enough thanks to the spin dash technique to get those first four hits in for free, but the final boss was something else entirely. Lots of hurt zones with many of them not at all apparent if you aren't aware of them. I finally realized that going for a 10-2 was a fool's errand and was able to 9-3 him a few attempts later. I was down to my last couple lives on my last continue as well, so it was none too soon.
Compared to Sonic 1 I like the level design a bit better; it felt like the levels were less about getting past a ton of obstacles and more about navigating the maze. There was a lot of evil enemy placement, though, that seemed designed to punish you for trying to move fast without having things memorized. A lot of times I could see myself hurtling toward a hit and no way to stop myself. But that final boss is a right bastard. I'm not even sure how you're supposed to defeat him going in blind.

Re: Games Beaten 2016
Games Ex has beaten in 2016:
73. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare|360|2007|FPS|5h 45m|9/10
CoD4 is considered the highest watermark of the CoD franchise by many critics. Well I'm pleased to say, that after playing it for the first time nine years after its release, CoD4 still lives up to the hype. Infinity Ward took a lot of chances with CoD4 and nearly every one of them paid off marvelously. The gunplay is super tight, the scenarios are awesome to experience, and the true sense of pathos and consequence has never felt more convincing. CoD4 is a legitimate classic, deserving of all its accolades, and forever serving as a milestone in FPS evolution.

Re: Games Beaten 2016
I'm one of those few naysayers who thinks that CoD4, while a great game, is over-hyped with a plot that's just okay. I'll totally agree with you about the mechanics - the gameplay is super tight and well made - but the story is a major weak point for me. I felt like it was almost amazing. Maybe I just need to replay it, but I always felt like having both the typical Russian boogeyman and the Middle Eastern terrorists as the enemies at the same time was a poor plot choice and, if they insisted on it, could have been presented, explained, and utilized better. I will also never not be pissed off that they just said "small but oil-rich" country instead of giving the narrative some actual fucking context and setting. I do not accept vague generalities when discussing the setting for a story. I know that I'm being SUPER nit-picky here about storytelling, especially since it's a Call of Duty game, but that really did kill the game for me more than anything else and make sure that I'll never think of it as more than a "good" game (but never an "amazing" game or a "classic").
Not trying to argue about it or anything, just give my take on it since you've just played it and my opinion is one that I doubt many people hold.
