Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is an excellent VR experience - it is anything that I ever loved about stuff like House of the Dead, amped up to 11, and with a great sense of motion and speed. It is odd sitting on your couch and feeling like you are moving fast on a roller coaster while trying to shoot zombies that are coming at you from all sides...but this game delivers that sensation in a pretty compelling way. If you like horror games, if you like light gun games, or if you like VR games that make it feel like you are moving around a lot, this game is a must buy.
Actual Sunlight is fucking depressing as hell and, while it was intriguing in some ways, ultimately just felt like a sad trip through someone's diary. That said, I think there's a lot in the narrative that resonates with many middle-class nerdy white dudes at different points in their life,. But - even if the tone was convincingly and alternately confessional and confrontational, it nonetheless too often seemed a bit gimmicky and gamey. I think the author/dev made a good choice in selecting this medium to best engage a sympathetic audience, but there are much more engaging narratives of this kind with much more intriguing/better drawn characters out there in many other media (literature, film, etc.).
