Marvel Puzzle Quest is great. I played that one a lot over the summer.

Another 'bejeweled-alike' that I was really into was Pokemon Shuffle.

I forgot to put Card Dungeon up in here. I know I posted it in another thread, but for the sake of continuity:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... geon&hl=en

It's a dungeon crawling roguelike where your actions (and equipment) are dictated by cards you find and strategize with. There are TONS of different cards to find. Really fun game, but it may prove too difficult for casual players.

Hah forgot about this, thanks for waking it up and with Star Control 2 of all things with one heck of a solid list of chasers after. Android has so much and you don't as often hear so much as everyone seems to be apple this apple that.

Well, most of these are in the Apple Store, too. I play MPQ on my iOS device, in part because it doesn't perform as well on my Android tablet. Apple hardware largely runs things better.

Very true. While I'm waiting on some firmware to load into a protocol converter, I'll post some more for you guys.

Devil's Attorney
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... m.senri.da
I've talked about this one before a few years back, it's a little older now. Still a great game where you play as a lawyer defeating other lawyers using strategic techniques. Fantastic voice acting. Prfsnl_gmr should play this. My wife likes this game and plays it on her own, that's saying something folks.

Layton Brothers Mystery Room
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... eryRoomENG
This has less in common with Professor Layton, and more with Phoenix Wright. If you enjoy finding clues, solving puzzles, and catching liars in their lies, you will like this game. Very high production values as its by Level-5.

Murder in the Hotel Lisbon
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... yname.Main
If you like adventure games, you may enjoy this goofball.

Bulb Boy
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... boyandroid
And here we have the best adventure game that I've beaten on Droid. Bulb Boy is utterly insane and totally unique.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... xeldungeon
A variant of Pixel Dungeon that improves on the base game. This is the best free roguelike that I've played for Android, I've played just about all of them.

Unity.Rogue3D
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... udio.rogue
And on the subject of roguelikes, I'll mention Unit.Rogue3D one more time.

Dream Machine
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ineAndroid
If you enjoy Mekorama, you will enjoy this. Beautiful graphics.

Evo Explorers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... voexplores
This is like Mekorama mixed with Monument Valley.

Skyward
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... pp.skyward
A Monument Valley ripoff, but that's ok.

Lara Croft: Relic Run
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... x.relicrun
I'm not a big fan of "run" games, of which there are too many on mobile, but of all the ones I've played, this one is the best.

Repulze
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... te.Repulze
There's a surprising amount of "futuristic racers" on GooglePlay, but this is the only one I would call decent.

Alphadia Genesis 1 & 2
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... diagenesis
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... iagenesis2
Kemco has a buttload of JRPGs on GooglePlay, some better than others. These two are very solid in the classic JRPG comfort food sense.

Adventure Bar Story
Image

Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... sakaba_eng
A JRPG where you own your own bar and take on quests to aid your bar.

Organ Trail: Director's Cut
If while playing the Oregon Trail at some point you said "this game would be perfect if it had zombies", well here you go.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... OrganTrail

Herald of Oblivion
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ofoblivion
For the Warhammer 40,000 fans you might want to check this gamebook out.

Mighty Dungeons
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tydungeons
Have you ever wanted Hero's Quest to have first person battles added on top? Try this out.

Dungeoneers
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... neers.game
There are a lot of first person dungeon crawlers on GooglePlay, and a fair amount of them suck. But this is one of the better ones.

7 Mages
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ages&hl=en
Gonna have to mention this one more time.

9th Dawn II
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... inthdawnii
If you're looking for a very deep WRPG to just lose yourself in for a long while, this may do the trick for you.

---

Now if there's one developer that I cannot praise enough on GooglePlay, it is Crescent Moon Games. They make the best action-RPGs on the platform, at least as far as WRPGs go. Here are their games, in order of release:

Aralon Sword and Shadow
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mes.aralon

Ravensword: Shadowlands
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... avensword2

Aralon: Forge and Flame
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ralon2zero

EXILES (inspired by Mass Effect)
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mes.exiles

All very inexpensive titles that can keep you busy for a good amount of time, while providing great aesthetics and actual depth.

---

As you can see there are plenty of solid titles on GooglePlay (I could post more, but I'm tired now). Mobile gaming has gotten good enough that I don't care to buy any more dedicated handhelds after 3DS and Vita. I've played too many fantastic mobile games that cost less than $5, to feel like paying $40 for a closed platform game is justifiable beyond this gen. I know arguments can be made both ways, not saying I'm right either way, just how I personally feel about the situation.

I'll mention Steven Universe: Attack the Light. It's a solid, Paper Mario-style RPG-lite experience. I need to get back to it and finish it off.

holy shit, this thread is pure gold. I have long realized that Android is the "new handheld," but yet there is so much shit listed here that looks great but I've never heard of before. Wow.

Unfortunately UQM HD not been played much on my phone. I can't get used to touch controls to control a ship with gravity affecting it - I need tactile for that so I know what my thrusters are doing. I do bring around a tiny bluetooth control pad when I travel, but as soon as I pair it I usually go straight to SNES or PS1 games I've got progress saved. I have enjoyed it on PC a lot tho.

Those newly listed games look awesome - thanks for the heads-up!

The only new game (if you'd even call it a game) I've installed in a while is Neko Atsume since my niece and I enjoy sharing finds.

Since you guys like the recommendations, here's a few more.

-----

Gameloft has released plenty of nice games on GooglePlay, they are the kings of ripoffs. But I mean that in a good way.

Wild Blood
Image

Somewhat of an action-RPG, more action than RPG though.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... WBHM&hl=en

Modern Combat 5
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .GloftM5HM
This is basically Call of Duty. Single player campaign mode and multiplayer. If you enjoy Modern Combat 5, you will want to check out Modern Combat 4 too.

N.O.V.A. 3: Freedom Edition
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .GloftNAHM
As close to Crysis as you can get on your Droid phone.

Dungeon Hunter 5
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .Gloft5DHM
A very popular Diablo clone, but with some unique features to make it stand out. Very popular and easy to find online players to play with.

-----

Chaos Rings III
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... osrings3gp
A popular JRPG series from Square Enix. Many people love this series.

Out There: Ω Edition
Image

If you put FTL, Star Control II, and Captain Blood into a blender, you'd end up with a galactic roguelike such as this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... here&hl=en

Bourin
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ernational
The advanced trigonometry calculating the sinusoidal pin impact variances oh who am I kidding dat ass.

Talisman: The Horus Heresy
Image

This is the Talisman board game in Warhammer 40k flavor. If you enjoy board games and W4K I don't see how you couldn't love this.

Deep Under the Sky
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... nderTheSky
An action-puzzle game where you explore an alien world.

Drift Girls
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ftgirls.NE
Tune your hotrod properly, and drift to 1st place, and you might win the waifu of your choice.
I totally suck ass at this game and remained ronery.

1941: World War Strategy
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... owolff.war
If you mixed Europa Universalis and Risk together, you might have this. It's a popular choice for strategy buffs.

MetalWars3
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... MetalWars3
The closest thing to MechWarrior that I've played on Droid. Protip: Lasers kinda suck.

Deus Ex: The Fall
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... reenix.dxm
It's the modern style Deus Ex with the cover shooting and the amber lighting.

Farming Simulator 2016
Image

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... fs16&hl=en
Get your ass on that tractor and save the farm from zombie panty aliens.
