I've sideloaded before using Bluestacks (Android emulator), Launcher Pro (saves APKs to PC), and Dropbox to get the apps from the PC to my device, but not all the games play well on the Fire OS. More often than not Amazon has "Kindle Tablet" editions of popular Android apps like Angry Birds. One app I still have from my sideloading is the Speedtest app from speedtest.net.

I had forgotten about this thread. I'm using the train more frequently nowadays and consequently been playing more on my android tablet.

Certainly Pinball Arcade and Zen Pinball should be included in this thread. Both have one free table even if you don't want to buy anything, they are very high quality pinball games.

Arguably more importantly if you don't want to spend money on your android gaming, Amazon gives out a free app of the day and there are often quite good paid games there (and sometimes "full" versions of freemium ones?).
It really is worth having the Amazon app store installed and checking occasionally (I usually leave a tab open in my browser but I don't remember to check every day).

In some periods they give out a bunch of apps rather than one per day (usually someone here in the forums posts on the Deals on the Web thread when that happens).

I feel bad I left out Pinball Arcade, but I can make up for it.

Zaccaria Pinball
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... aria&hl=en

A legit table maker from Italy I believe it was, in business for many decades. These are 'perfect' copies of the tables. The base game is free and a good many of the tables are unlocked to freely play.

The way they get you is that you can get a silver or a gold(all) unlock which at gold is over $20. It adds mostly just fluff filters, used/new look to tables, and other weird stuff and gets rid of this little ad on the bottom of the screen that not obtrusive.

Anyway just pop open the link, then expand the description, it does kind of lay out how the charges work and they're pretty much not necessary to enjoy it. At the least a bronze member gets all the config perks, silver gets all the existing and future (25 total) tables, gold gets both ($21.88USD.) Buying one table is 99 cents, a far cry better than $5/ea with Pinball Arcade and it like PA has a solid engine and are legit real tables only.

Thanks for the shout out on Zaccaria Pinball, I didn't know about this one.

Funnily enough, right after I commented on Free App of the Day, Amazon switched to a different scheme called Underground apparently. Anyone tried it? I think it may be US only.

Yes, this Underground program allows you to get certain apps as well as all of their IAPs for absolutely free.

I don't think my Amazon device supports it; it's only for the 3rd and 4th generation tablets (mine is 2nd).

It really sucks they took away FAOTD for this, but to be honest they were repeating tons of apps this year, nothing really new.

As far as I know it's US only.

figured I'd bump this thread to hopefully get some new conversation going in it.

But also to remind that Anapan linked to the free Android port of Star Control II

So maybe I will actually start playing the TR game this month.

I see in the first page I posted a bunch of games back in 2015. Since then I've had my ups and downs with the GooglePlay stuff. I'll list a few games I think are worth checking out for you folks...

Talisman
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... s.talisman
This is a board game adaption to Droid which turned out very well. I find this game to be fun even single player. The base game has a lot of content, and there are expansions available as well.

Lone Wolf Saga
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... WolfBiblio
If you enjoyed the Lone Wolf gamebooks of yesteryear, here's a digital version that is put together very well.

Mekorama
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... i.mekorama
Super fantastic and free little puzzle game where you help a robot reach the goal. One of the very best free games I've ever played on Android.

Tiny Rogue
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .tinyrogue
A roguelike built for quick play sessions with charming graphics. There are a LOT of roguelikes on GooglePlay, but this is one of the better ones.

Sproggiwood
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... proggiwood
Here's a more meaty roguelike which is a port of a PC game. Don't let the cute graphics fool you, this game will kick your ass. Also has a town building mode because I have no idea.

Unity.Rogue3D
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... udio.rogue
One more roguelike because I have a soft spot for them. This one stars a loli girl going through a more MysteryDungeon styled game. Bone would probably like it.

Deus Ex GO
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... l.deusexgo
You probably heard of Lara Croft GO and Hitman GO, well here's the Deus Ex flavor. A lot of people say it's the best of the GO series.

7 Mages
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... sevenmages
Right now this is the closest you can get to having Grimrock on your phone. Really nice graphics for you first person dungeon crawling fans (I think there's two of us on the board).

The Executive
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .executive
I mean you're a boss who's tired of everybody's shit so you start kicking the entire office's ass. Disregard your employees have turned into monsters. Probably some kind of meta-commentary going on here.

The Trail
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ail.google
A 22 Cans game (Peter Molyneux) that wasn't hyped to the stratosphere, and therefore has gotten a lot of great review scores. Explore the wild west at your leisure.

VR Moon & VR Mars
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... moonwalk3d
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ce.vr.mars
There are plenty of GoogleCardboard VR apps, but these two go the extra mile from what I've seen. If you want to wander around the moon or mars, give these a shot.

Wrong Level VR
https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... RCardboard
It's a crazy VR platformer. You will probably puke and not succeed. Failure builds character.

Maybe more later.

great post, Exhum. Thanks!

I haven't played the Android port of Talisman, but I love the Steam version - and assume quite similar. And I agree that it's fantastic even in single player.

I'll second Deus Ex Go. So far, the only Deus Ex game I like ( ). And though it may have been mentioned already, will also plug Lara Croft Go.

Speaking of VR, is anyone interested in me listing some GearVR games? I know there's surely some overlap between the Oculus Android store and the Google Play Store for mobile VR stuff, but let me know if anyone else is interested in GearVR stuff.

For those who like match-3 style games like Bejeweled, I'd like to offer up Marvel Puzzle Quest. It is a match-3 style game where you have a team of Marvel Heroes and your matches give you Action Points (AP) of the color you match, and once you get enough AP you can launch their signature attacks. By playing the game you earn ISO you can use to level your heroes, and collect new comic book covers to level up their various powers. It is freemium, so they do over time introduce new rarities of characters, and it can seem daunting just starting out, but they do try to balance the game for your level of ability. I have my own alliance and a good stable of regular players and we have a blast. The in game chat is weak sauce, but it suffices.
