I am friggin' hyperventilating over here with this latest Project Update! I've got this big, dumb smile on my face because, even though I didn't back it at one of those levels, it makes me really happy to see fans immortalized in the game.

Friggin' backer only jacket for Ryo is so damn krunk af! It's also now the jacket Ryo has always worn, in my head-canon. I really hope It'll be available from the start. Very happy that I'll be getting some signed merch from Yu Suzuki, and the significantly better color scheme for the T-shirt. I've forgotten all the goodies I'm supposed to be getting at my backer level. I just remember that it had the four physical capsule toys.

My excitement can no longer be contained. Only, like, three-ish months now!

Yeah, I had the same reaction to that update too. I was overwhelmed with joy seeing all the different rewards coming to life. That 'Save Shenmue' shrine looks like an amazing easter egg and a great way to pay tribute to the fans that made the game a reality.

Also, with all the criticism Shenmue 3 has received for the graphics, it's really starting to look very decent. There's improvements each time they show off more footage or screenshots.

P.S. Shenmue 3 is being showcased at a Sony event in China this coming week and then will be shown at Gamescom at the end of August.

Yeah, that was a really cool touch. I can't speak Chinese at all, but from what I could read of that sign, it seems like they meant to write that in Chinese as well. Makes me wonder if that's really the name of the establishment, or not.

Yeah, I definitely agree. It's still bothering me a little bit that Ryo just sort of cups the capsule toys in his hand, instead of holding them between his thumb and forefinger, but I can live with that, even if they don't change it. I guess one of the things that I really got from all of those images was just this overwhelming feeling of 'Shenmue-ness.' It may not be exactly the same as what I remember, but it really seems to have enough of that same soul that makes it feel like home. It's really feeling a lot more like a return of Shenmue, for me.

It's still bothering me a little bit that Ryo just sort of cups the capsule toys in his hand, instead of holding them between his thumb and forefinger, but I can live with that, even if they don't change it.

Yeah, I made the exact same comment and criticism over at the Shenmue Dojo when we first saw gameplay shots and videos. It wouldn't be so bad if the toys were held more centrally and it looked like he is holding the toys in the palm of his hand, but they kinda look superimposed onto the bottom of his palm, by his wrist. But yeah, it's a minor thing and I can live with it.

I agree overall though they have really nailed the Shenmue look and feel.
