I've tried out Phantasy Star Universe a while ago, but I really didn't play much of it so I don't have a super solid opinion of it (and I don't remember too much either). However, I do remember the main character being annoying, and how the game was divided up into episodes where they put the credits at the end of each one (and I think a recap at the beginning as well). You can skip them I think but I also remember that being annoying.

So basically if all I can remember is how annoying it was, that probably isn't a good sign ha.

I haven't played Universe.

If you have an hour to kill here's a pretty awesome/hilarious review.

(scroll down a bit)

Note that the #1 means the writer ranks it as the #1 worst game of all time. But if you continue on there is still a #0!

I kid, I kid...

That said, I have pretty much any and every compilation disc that's been released in the past few generations...but they generally aren't any better than MESS/MAME and the like. They might be "official" emulation, but they are still just emulation.

I do appreciate those with cool extras, though.

I know (and I should have expected a communications professor to call me out when I used the term "emulation" to mean "unauthorized emulation" ).

So I finished a game that eluded my even getting close to finishing back in the day, Trojan on NES. There were two reasons I never finished, of course. The first is that it seems pretty tough, and secondly it just isn't very good.

Well, I went through the game with save states, managed to beat it and get a feel for things. Then I looked up a longplay to see what I could improve... and not a whole lot, except for finding those power up icons, which is a huge deal! The first "P" icon doubles your attack power, and a second, if you can survive until you get it, triples it. Pretty insane. I figured out most of the patterns, and the hardest section for me is still stage 3, in that blasted rolling-bomb / goon hallway.

Still, on a third run through, I managed to sneak through without losing a life. I'd say this one has been put to bed. Just don't ask me to go play through Treasure Master next. Ugh.
