The most important aspect that I loved about Ages is the game has legitimately tough puzzles at times. It actually requires some brain power to succeed. Compared to other handheld Zeldas I've beat*, that's a stark difference.

I have not finished Seasons though, to be fair. I've made it about halfway through the game, but the pacing went to hell and I wasn't sure what I was supposed to even be doing. Maybe I'll replay it someday, I don't know.

Awakening is a great game though, don't get me wrong. But it's piss easy. At least I had to put some effort into finishing Ages.

*Handheld Zeldas I've beaten include Awakening, Ages, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. I made it to the final dungeon of Minish Cap but got distracted and never finished it.

I beat Tales of Symphonia recently. Amazing game, truly great. I'm not really sure if i like it more than Vesperia, but i at least like it as much.

I also beat Yoshi's Story. Pretty fun, i remember playing that game when i was, like, 5. It was fun, if a little bland.
Currently Playing: Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd (PS3)

You should check out the sequel to Tales of Symphonia, where it takes place many years after the fact!

Back when Mario was a villain!

Two okay ports here. Both are missing a level found in the arcade version (though not the same one). I don't own this on Intellivision, sadly.

Levels 1 and 2 of the Atari port are easy. Level 2 only contains a single enemy! Difficulty ramps up in level 3 where it's hard to dodge the "lizards" unless you're jumping in a very specific pattern.

The Coleco game looks nice, though it's a bit trickier to grab the vines here and of course the controller itself is a bit stiff and awkward. I can't figure out how the game "loops" after stage three..... It seems be choosing levels randomly or maybe it's going backwards?

If you own these two older-than-dirt systems then check out DKJ. Otherwise, the NES port is better all around.

38. Bloodborne - PS4
39. Gradius - NES
40. Marble Madness - NES
41. The Witcher 3 - PC
42. Mega Man X5 Zero Playthrough - PSX

So I played through X4 with both characters and X5 with X back in December, but then the Together Retro for this month was Mega Man X, so I held off on doing a Zero playthrough until now. I also wasn't too keen on playing again, as X5 was a noticeable drop in quality compared to X4. And unfortunately playing as Zero doesn't do much to improve things. Several of the stage hazards are much harder to navigate as Zero, with Duff McWhalen's stage being an absolute pain in the ass. The only saving grace is that Zero tends to demolish bosses pretty well, and that's without using his dash cancelling spam. He has better default mobility than X until X gets the Falcon Armor, but at that point X becomes much more awesome. And then X's Ultimate Armor is miles above Zero's Black Armor in terms of value.

Oh, and I had forgotten just how much Squid Adler's opening on the bike can go fuck itself. It's really depressing how they took a fun bike from X2 & 4 and made it suck so hard. And then it sucks even more when you're trying to get the armor part.

I don't think anyone should check out any version of DK Junior personally. It's pretty bad

I find it interesting that you didn't really like Ice Climber but you did like these. I much prefer Ice Climber to any version of DK Junior - NES, Arcade, Game & Watch or otherwise.

Ice Climber is substantially worse than Donkey Kong 1/2/3, Popeye, Kangaroo, Congo Bongo, Mr. Do!'s Castle, Beauty & the Beast, and other similar "climbing" games. The controls are awful and game drags on for an unbearable 32 levels.

I have been meaning to ask - anyone here play Wrecking Crew? The World of Longplays video is a staggering 2.5 hours! With no save feature as far as I can tell. Can you at least choose your starting level from the title screen? EDIT: Wikipedia tells me you can. I should probably pick that one up now.

But have you compared them to the ultimate climbing game, Eli's Ladder?

Wrecking Crew is absolutely atrocious. I hate it with a passion I normally wouldn't associate with disliking a game. It is unbelievably frustrating and tedious. It's puzzle solving requires slow and steady thinking whilst its use of enemies, and worse, random enemies, means that you'll often fail at a puzzle due to random chance. Blergh.
