I would totally download Virtual Boy Wario Land from the eShop.

I typically don't download games if they exist in a physical format, but I make an exception if the game is hard to obtain and/or awkward to play in its original state (I just downloaded the 8-bit Lost Levels because the odds of me ever owning a Famicom Disk System are slim).

Seems like Nintendo is just sitting on a lot of stuff...... Same old story I guess, at least Mother has finally made a North American appearance.

Be sure to get The Mysterious Murasame Castle and RECCA. The first is like an incredibly difficult and fast-paced Legend of Zelda, and the second is an absolutely amazing shmup.

I agree completely with your review. I am slowly working away at it, but it is really, really hard.

I will dominate it!

I gotta take a look at what other obscure Famicom/FDS stuff is on the eShop....

My digital want list is now rivaling my physical one, which is kinda scary.

Been a long, long time since I beat this one. Funny how you remember so many things. Knocked off Star Road and played alternative version of this one after that. This is one of those cases where I think a series was never gonna be any better. I just do not think they have ever done Mario finer!

This one made a bad, bad first impression on me with its control scheme. Having to control Max's view with WASD didn't leave a nice taste in my mouth. I also didn't care much for actually moving Sam around (again with WASD) either. Looking past that, however, I saw a great comedic adventure. Overall, this season isn't as good as the previous two, but it's still quite clever. This season has been give a noticeable facelift with higher res textures and more polygons onscreen. The audio has pretty much been untouched, not that it needed to be messed with.

The biggest (and most welcome) addition is the ability to play as Max who's gained psychic powers. The powers cleverly integrate into gameplay by offering more creative ways to solve the game's puzzles as well as lending themselves to the series's style of humor. Some noteworthy powers are the future sight which provides hints for said puzzles (in a humorous fashion of course), transformation paves the way for much wackiness, and the voodoo doll has seen many uses outside of its assigned segments to make characters say off the wall things. Teleportation is especially notable since it greatly reduces the amount of backtracking needed to complete the adventure.

I've heard these games are rather easy, and I guess those who say that are right as I was able to beat 3 out of 5 of them without looking at a guide. I can imagine these games can be difficult for some as they require following their weird logic. For example, there's a scene where "Max" has to transform into a blimp and Sam has to shoot him in order to set a banner on fire. Anyway, these Sam & Max games are fun, accessible Point-and-Click Adventure Games that everyone should play.

I still admire the attention to sound in SMW. When you're in a cave your sound echoes. When you jump on Yoshi a galloping cadence is added to the music.
