No idea. I can't be arsed with that shit. And XBMC and Kodi may technically require torrents to survive, but they're still widely used... They still technically work in a slightly different way. Torrents aren't dying anyways. That was my point. The only point I agreed with is that torrent use (particularly TRADITIONAL torrent use - i.e. downloading a bittorrent client and downloading torrents/using magnet links isn't so prevalent as it was before Amazon Prime/Hulu/Netflix/iTunes/Spotify came onto the scene and became much more convenient.

I am not sure how older games from the 90s gets easily re-released for Win10. I just assumed as long as its windows it will work with few bug-fixing here and there.

Adobe has already set a date for Flash's end-of-life (they will stop supporting it after 2020). At least, with respect to Flash Player and browser plugin support. Again, Adobe AIR can package up Flash content (and more) as a standalone app, so more actively supported things like retail games (Binding of Isaac for instance) could get ported, if they haven't been already.

I'd still say that general availability of Flash based web games is more of a concern than being able to run Flash content. The fewer web browsing options that actually support Flash, the less appealing keeping a big site full of Flash content will be - particularly in a couple years or so. Again, you can download the SWF files, but most users likely don't make a habit of doing that. When the sites goes away, so will most people's access to whatever games were hosted.

I doubt there'll be much of an issue running the Flash Player Projector executable down the line though. There are a number of reasons that older Windows applications may not run right, but little that'd impact that short of using a version of Windows locked down to the App Store (Windows RT, 10 S, etc).

I don't think there will be any problems running discrete Flash SWF games in separate Flash environs outside the browser, but some games were designed to sort of stream content and make it harder to just download a single SWF from a site, and those will be difficult to archive and run in a separate Flash environment. There are also some games which integrate Flash and HTML content in a mixed fashion, and those are likely also to be unusable without keeping around a legacy browser.

I am starting to think we are in a time in history where we should preserve older software like we preserve video and audio for future generations. but my understanding is that it doesn't work that way in the computer world due to software and hardware requirements.

I don't know how much I can say, at least of my opinion, without going into a political discussion, which is now banned (but considering pretty much everything in life is inherently political - even the loot crate debate - I don't know how we can avoid it really). But to answer your question, yes it is censorship of the internet and yes , that's exactly what our Government are doing.

In a couple of months, all porn sites that don't comply with a new law will be blocked too. The new law means that pornographic websites must feature a new age verification tool, that is currently being developed by the Government in conjunction with the owner of Pornhub, which would make it impossible to access pornographic websites without credit card verification to verify age. Any adult sites that choose not to, or fail to comply and use the age verification tool, will be blocked (I foresee the use of VPNs rising yet again).

So that's torrent sites, file sharing sites, other illegal sites and now porn sites that will be blocked.

Other internet controls include the fact that our entire internet history is now retained for 12 months, held by ISPs and accessible by Government bodies and law enforcement without the need of a warrant, as long as they have 'legitimate' reasons to access the history. e.g. If they suspected someone was potentially involving themselves in terrorism or planning an attack. At least that's how they sold it to the public. It's for our protection... hmm. Then there's the time, our Government wanted to block encryption and any app like Whatsapp that uses it for communication (I think they may have been successful with that one... I can't remember). Do you understand what kind of inept, technologically incompetent fools we have in our Government now? They wanted to force companies like Apple and Google and whoever else to stop encryption for its customers or provide a backdoor for the Government (essentially rendering the protection void, since if there's a backdoor available to the Government, well it's available to anyone with the know how).

They pledged to complete change the internet forever, creating a new internet in the UK that would completely be controlled and regulated by the Government. And the right accuse the left of interfering in the private sector...

That's some heavy internet stuff there. Anyways, I've been thinking about playing through Shining Force CD and was just pondering over the old Shining Force games. I believe the first Shining Force runs with the title The Legacy of Great Intention. I don't know just sounds funny. I guess it's better than We Tried and Meant Well.
