Yeah, I've played Dragon's Lair a couple times in an arcade, and I just can't really grasp how I'm supposed to be able to play it. Like, what human goes into that game knowing how to react, and where to even really hit a button. Nice animation, but as you said, doesn't play worth a damn. Space Ace didn't seem to be any better, either.

I remember playing stuff like E.T. and Karate Champ as a kid and thinking "meh, there's better stuff out there."

But Dragon's Lair may be the first game I actively disliked.

Space Ace didn't seem to be any better, either.

What surprised me is that it is probably the game that had most ports in human history, other than maybe Tetris, which probably means it was pretty popular and through the decades too. Even the Switch has a port!

I can picture the frustration of teenagers pushing quarters into that game just trying to hit the button at the precise time.

Well said. I was always a sucker for graphics. I still remember I wanted to play an obscure game called Byzantine just for the graphics.

NEWS FLASH! There’s a NES port too! It’s awful!

The Gameboy Color port, however, is an astounding technological achievement (even if it’s still not a very good game).
