Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 (Spoilers for LoS within)

Post by Stark »

So, Mercury Steam just released a trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2! LoS was easily one of my favorite games of 2010, it was just so well done and the story was really cool. Anyone else play and beat it and are looking forward to the next? The trailer contains some major spoilers for those that haven't beat the first game and I'd like this thread to be speculation based on the last game and what we see in the trailer. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

Could be fun, I liked LOS, but didn't love it. I thought it was a decent game, but too derivative. I hope to some some originality in LOS 2. As for the story
Seeing an Alucard origin story really sounds cool
This'll be worth keeping an eye on. Wasn't there another thread about a 2D game that was also following LOS?

There is a LoS game coming for 3DS, which may be a system seller for me. There are a couple of games I need to get for 3DS, but nothing has sold me a system yet. Castlevania could do it.

Did you finish LoS? I kinda agree with you at the beginning, it felt like GoW and a little confined. But I think I really started to get what they were going for and in the end I felt it was essentialy a 3D (2.75D?) Simon's Quest. Either way the way it ended ... I discussed this with Phades, might be one of the best endings to a game ever.

Yeah, I finished it. Again, I liked it, but I recognized every gameplay element from some other game. I think the only thing that stood out as kind of different was the magic system and how it affected combat. It was a fun game though. The ending was certainly not a direction I thought they'd take with this game. It did feel very Kojima, and it gives more depth to an iconic Castlevania character, so that's interesting. I am curious to see where they go with it, especially if the next game introduces you know who.

Here's a question for you. Have you ever played Lament of Innocence? I ask because it was the original Castlevania origin story. Kind of interesting playing it now in light of the rebooted story in Lords of Shadow. I do actually prefer how Lords of Shadow did it. Though both games prove one thing

Heh, ain't that the truth. I have Lament of Innocence, but haven't gotten around to it yet. (Helps to have a way to play it, which I don't have.)

Oh man that would be amazing! Is it too much to ask for a Vita release though?

I'm definitely interested in the game after seeing the trailer. I may go back and replay Lord of Shadows to refresh my memory.
